Ground'n Roswell 88-2006902 | Government Grant Application

Ground'n Roswell | Application Preview

Ground'n Roswell is seeking government grants to support the establishment of a coffee shop in their community. The funding will primarily be allocated for essential kitchen equipment, including a refrigerator, freezer, ice maker, and a Reverse Osmosis system, as well as initial perishables needed for operation. The owners plan to handle construction themselves to minimize costs.

Their vision includes expanding to multiple locations and acquiring a coffee truck or trailer to participate in local events, thereby increasing their reach and presence in the community.

The owner, transitioning from a full-time teaching career to entrepreneurship, aims to secure a stable future and inspire their children through this venture. The motivation stems from a personal journey marked by sacrifice and the recent loss of a brother, prompting a desire to find a meaningful path.

In terms of competition, Ground'n Roswell will face established brands like Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and Stellar Coffee, but they have identified a unique market opportunity. Their chosen location is notably underserved, with no coffee shop within a six-mile radius on the North side of Roswell. Additionally, they will provide delivery services, setting themselves apart from current competitors.

Ground'n Roswell plans to create a unique community hub by personalizing their menu and offering a welcoming atmosphere, transforming the coffee shop into a local gathering place. This approach emphasizes their commitment to adaptability and fostering community connections, which they believe will be their competitive advantage.

  • Funding Usage

The funding we are looking for would go towards the commercial kitchen items required to open the coffee shop. We will begin with a soft open needing the refrigerator, freezer, ice maker, Reverse Osmosis system, and the perishables needed for the coffee. We will be doing the construction ourselves to get the coffee shop up and functional.

  • Business Plan

We would like to expand to a stand-alone coffee shop with more than one location. We would also like to purchase a coffee truck/trailer to be able to go to community events. I am taking a leap of faith going from a full-time teacher to a business owner. I would like to be able to secure my future and show my children that anything is possible when you believe in yourself. I have had to put myself second for my entire existence and with the passing of my brother in January of 2022, I need to take the time now to find my path and again, secure my future.

  • Self Identified Competition

In the town we are located in, there are three main competitors in town; Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and Stellar Coffee. We have only two drive through coffee shops located in downtown and one local coffee shop located inside a high-rise building. The location we have chosen, does not have a coffee shop within 6 miles and it will be the only coffee shop on the North side of Roswell. There are no competitors that offer delivery or are in the works on this side of Roswell. As (what we are hoping to become) a local coffee shop, we will be able to expand our menu to the changing of the times. We will be able to personalize it and make it a place to come to. We will be able to allow it to become a community stopping place. We will be a home-base and a slow-down spot.
