Light Discipline Holiday Lighting Company LLC 88-2112450 | Government Grant Application

Light Discipline Holiday Lighting Company LLC | Application Preview

Light Discipline Holiday Lighting Company LLC is seeking government grants to support its growth as a small business. The owner, a combat disabled veteran, single parent, and current police officer, wishes to transition from law enforcement to running the business full time. Recognizing the challenges faced by police officers, including being underpaid and undervalued, the owner is motivated to create a more stable and fulfilling career.

The funding will be used to cover living expenses during the off-season, which runs from October to December, the peak lighting season. With the grant, the owner plans to stock up on materials during the warmer months and target new clients, particularly waterfront property owners who may seek lighting year-round.

The business relies currently on advertising and word-of-mouth referrals. The owner has support in developing the business plan from a successful colleague who has seen significant growth over the years. The application highlights the owner’s dedication to service, both as a veteran and in law enforcement, emphasizing a desire to continue serving the community through the lighting business.

In terms of competition, the owner has found limited notable players in the local market, suggesting an opportunity for differentiation. The business will leverage its veteran status, meticulous attention to detail, and commitment to supporting service members through community initiatives like the Hometown Heroes Project. This unique approach is presented as a competitive edge that sets the business apart in the industry.

  • Funding Usage

I am a combat disabled veteran, single parent and current police officer. I have been in law enforcement for approximately 10 years. As a police officer at my current department, and pretty much as a whole, police officers are are under paid and under appreciated. I am looking to do my business full time, but would need the funding to live on during the off season. The lighting season usually runs from fall, October-December. In that time frame, I will be able to profit significantly. And during the warmer months, I would use the possible grant money to stock up on materials, and prepare for the upcoming light season. I also am fortunate enough to market waterfront properties in my area. Residents who reside on the multiple water ways in my area usually have lighting on their properties all year round. Therefore, I will be able to have new clients during the warmer months or my off season. I just need a financial cushion for the first year or so until my business takes off. I prefer having a safer profession where I am appreciated, and do not have to worry about not coming home to my daughter.

  • Business Plan

Advertising and word of mouth is where I am at right now. A colleague of mine is helping me with business plan, and he went from 40 homes/businesses his first year, to 400 homes/business last year, which was his 7th year. I am a combat disabled veteran, single parent and primary resident to my beautiful 7 year old daughter, and current police officer. I have lived the life of selfless service while serving in the Army as an Infantry Paratrooper, and now in law enforcement. I want to continue down that road, and the lighting business is what I want to do.

  • Self Identified Competition

I have researched and looked, and in my area I have not found anyone that stands out in the crowed. Me and my business will stand out. I stress that my business is a Veteran owned business, and that my attention to detail is second to none. We support our service members and first responders and even provide free services with our Hometown Heroes Project. The discipline that I have and perfectionist mentality will outdo any competitor.
