SAFE Housing B2021008796 | Government Grant Application

SAFE Housing | Application Preview

SAFE Housing is applying for government grants to support its initiative in providing transitional housing. The funding will be utilized to lease and furnish a new facility, cover the salary of a facility manager, and pay for marketing and consulting/accounting fees.

The organization plans to open a new facility every two years in response to the growing demand for transitional housing solutions, particularly as homelessness rises. The focus will be on using profits to seek government subsidized programs for short-term housing needs. SAFE Housing aims to address the increasing homeless population by creating facilities in Southern California's areas with the highest need. Each facility is projected to generate approximately $200,000 in revenue with startup costs estimated between $40,000 and $50,000.

The application highlights the current lack of competition in the sector, as demand significantly exceeds supply, with governmental support readily available for effective solutions. Looking ahead, SAFE Housing plans to expand into the special needs segment within 5 to 10 years.

What sets SAFE Housing apart is its holistic approach, which includes not just providing shelter but also free vocational education and assistance in job placement, aiming to help clients achieve permanent housing and self-sufficiency. This strategy supports individuals in building their lives and gaining independence, ultimately addressing the broader homeless crisis.

  • Business Plan

As the demand for transitional housing is only increasing, we will open a new facility (transitional housing, sober living, etc.) every other year, and focus profits toward seeking government subsidized programs for short term housing needs. The increasing homeless population has been attributed to a shortage of housing. Consequently, the demand for transitional housing has drastically increased and will continue as the country scrambles to come up with solutions. Anyone who is able to properly meet the demand is prospering with the only barrier to entry being start-up capital and the know-how. I have the know-how, a team, and the time to invest. I only need the funding and I can begin to make a difference, addressing a national problem one city at a time. Providing beds, food, and resources to help people, we will establish facilities in Southern California wherever the homeless populations are the greatest. With a single facility we expect to gross $200,000 in revenue. All of this can be done with a startup cost of approximately $40,000 to $50,000 which would be used to secure a property, furnish it and begin marketing to fill bed space. With the CDC 's eviction ban having been lifted August 26, there is only an expected increase in homeless throughout the country, thereby increasing the demand for transitional housing everywhere.

  • Self Identified Competition

As naiive as this sounds, there are no competitors. The demand greatly outweighs the supply in this market. The government is practically throwing money at the problem seeking any practical solution. In 5-10 years, we foresee us expanding into the special needs segment catering to those with disabilities, which will require licensing and puts us against competitors who currently contract with hospitals. But the general homeless, homeless children, families and homeless veterans segment have a deficit of beds for these people. Others in this field tend to focus only on providing a bed and a safe environment, some also include food and occasional field trips. Our goal is to facilitate the transition process by providing free education (vocational), helping our clients seek employment and eventually find permanent housing. This will serve as a solution to the homeless problem as it helps those in need to establish themselves in the workforce and gain independence.
