Eco Eclectic | Application Preview
Eco Eclectic is applying for government grants to support its expansion into a brick-and-mortar store, filling a gap left by the closure of other eco shops in the area. The funds will be used for start-up costs and initial inventory, allowing the business to offer a wider range of environmentally friendly products and services.
The new store will be strategically located in a high-income area to attract customers and generate profits that will fund a "bulk bus" service. This service aims to deliver bulk goods and fresh food to lower-income communities, addressing food deserts. Additionally, Eco Eclectic plans to initiate a composting program and hopes to establish multiple locations while engaging in community projects.
The funding request highlights the social and financial benefits for investors. By supporting Jacksonville's only zero-waste store, they can help make eco-friendly living more affordable and accessible, contributing to the fight against climate change by reducing consumer pollution and promoting sustainable products.
In terms of competition, while Cultivate Jax operates in a different area, it remains the only similar store in Jacksonville. The previously existing Shop Joyfull has closed, and Whole Foods presents competition as a bulk food supplier but lacks a comprehensive refill solution and waste reduction focus.
Eco Eclectic's competitive advantage lies in its commitment to making eco-friendly living convenient and enjoyable, appealing to consumers who seek to reduce waste without significant lifestyle changes. By prioritizing accessibility and fun, the business aims to scale its mission effectively.

Funding Usage
All other "eco shops" in our area have closed, leaving a gap in the market and opportunity for us to expand and better serve the community by reducing waste. I will use these funds to expand into a brick and mortar, as this is the amount needed to meet the projected start-up costs and initial inventory.

Business Plan
We will expand into a brick and mortar to offer more earth (and human) friendly goods and services. The brick and mortar will be located in a high-income area, with plans to use profit to fund a "bulk bus" to deliver bulk goods and fresh foods to the food desserts in our lower income communities. We also plan on launching a composting program. Ideally, we would expand our presence and open multiple locations while maintaining community projects. Investors would benefit financially and socially by supporting the only zero-waste store in Jacksonville, FL! We are making eco-friendly living more affordable and convenient by innovating on the retail front. In order to fight climate change, we need to tackle a variety of different problems, one of which being consumers and pollution. By investing in us, it is a step in making healthier, less wasteful products, more accessible.

Self Identified Competition
Cultivate Jax- Plant and "eco" store. It is located in a different area of Jacksonville, so geographically is not a competitor, but it is the only other store like our in Jax now. Shop Joyfull- Out of business. Recently closed it's doors and online shop due to family and logistically reasons. Whole foods- Bulk foods competitor. Large chain, but does not offer a comprehensive refill solution or waste reduction. We are making "eco" living more accessible and convenient for people. Convivence is huge, people don't want to make huge sacrifices to live a less wasteful life. We are making it fun and easy to reduce waste, something that needs to be scaled.
