Chanol Boer Goats | Application Preview
Chanol Boer Goats is seeking government grants to expand its operations by purchasing additional production animals and enhancing reproductive services, such as flushing and artificial insemination. This funding is crucial to meet the high demand for goats, allowing the business to produce more offspring and fulfill additional sales offers that have been previously declined.
The business plan focuses on increasing production capacity to enable both direct sales and independent online sales of younger offspring. The growing demand in the export market for livestock, particularly to countries like Thailand, the Philippines, and Jamaica, further emphasizes the necessity for increased output. Additionally, Chanol Boer Goats aims to become a feed dealer, leveraging the owner's academic background in animal nutrition to promote a feed product that has proven successful for their livestock.
The application argues for funding approval by highlighting a deep passion for agriculture and a proven track record in the livestock market, with previous revenue surpassing $50,000 in a year. The applicant believes that with additional production animals, revenue could potentially double, contributing to the growth of a registered herd and overall business expansion.
In terms of competition, the application references several established breeders, detailing their success and scale of operations. Chanol Boer Goats emphasizes its unique advantages, such as a personalized approach to breeding and a commitment to helping other producers succeed. The applicant expresses a desire not only to thrive individually but also to uplift others in the industry, fostering community growth and collaboration among livestock producers.

Funding Usage
The usage of funding will mainly go towards purchasing more production animals and utilizing more reproductive services such as flushing, artificial insemination, and collection of semen from bucks. If I have the ability to purchase more production animals, then more offspring can be made and I will be able to accept more sale offers that I have been denying due to too high of a demand. I will also be able to keep back more replacement animals that can help grow my herd and a whole.

Business Plan
By purchasing more production animals, utilizing flush services to put more kids on the ground I will be able to accept offers to sales who have reached out to me since I will have more offspring available to sell. As well as being able to hold independent online sales to make younger offspring available as well. The growth in production does will increase the amount of offspring I have on the ground to market and sell. The need for more animals in the export market is also rising. I have been able to export livestock to Thailand, Philippines, and Jamaica. The desire for more goats to leave the US is great but I have not had the ability to meet the demand with my current production. I would also like to become a dealer and sell the current feed I use for my stock. The mill that produces the feed does not have a rep but with the success my stock have had on the feed it would provide great marketing for them and an opportunity for myself to market and sell the feed product at an affordable price to producers. With my BS degree in animal nutrition I would have the experience and the background knowledge to properly market this feed. I hope to be able to accept 2 additional sales each year with a growing number of offspring to total in close to 10-12 sales per year in 5 years. Agriculture is a passion that I have always found myself indulging in. Being able to produce a meat animal that can not only run through a market sale but be shown nationally and better the Boer breed is truly a remarkable feat. As a young woman in agriculture, I have the skills of a quality herdsman. What once started out as a fun journey has turned into a full blown profitable business in a flourishing industry. I have the ability to manage, raise, and produce animals that can be sold in a skyrocketing meat market and compete in one of the fastest growing livestock industries to date. The goat industry is just opening up its doors to the US and is stepping strongly into other countries as well. I have had the opportunity to export livestock to the Philippines, Thailand, and Jamaica. With a larger output of quality production I will be able to export more animals while still being able to fulfill my sale obligations in the US. I have a true passion and drive which is a necessity when it comes to the agricultural business. This type of work is not for the faint of heart and I have the burning desire to never give up and the wit to be financially smart with my business. In the past, I have grossed over $50,000 in a single year of production. I know with the ability to add more prod and netted $20,000 of that. Being able to add more production animals to my herd through a grant (such as brood does, bred recips, and stud bucks), I could double that revenue while still being able to keep back more replacement animals and grow my registered herd. I have the ability to manage and grow livestock while making a quality profit. The funding from this grant will allow me to better my program and further my ability to produce extraordinary animals on a larger scale and be able to keep back some of those animals to continue to grow my production herd. It may not be a typical career path, and I have struggled with many important people in my life about whether or not this career will be able to support myself thought life. It may not be a typical 9-5 but it is something I know I was born to do. I was meant to be a herdsman of the highest standard and I will do everything in my being to continue to make that dream into a reality.

Self Identified Competition
-Dust Devil Ranch: Maddie and Trevor Clemens, these individuals are currently my mentors. They have made a very successful career out of the Boer Goat business. They participate in 10-15 sales per year and manage about 300-350 head of Boer goats. Their annual output is close to 200 kids per year. -2M Boer Goats: Paul and Kim Morgan, Paul and Kim are some of the longest standing breeders in the industry. They have been producing stock since the early 2000’s and participate in over 20 live and private sales per year. They manage a herd of 150 brood does and over 400 head of recips. They sell a show feed as well but it is not economical for most average producers to access. The feed per bag can cost up to $26, making it a very expensive feed for the average producer to utilize. -Boston School Manor Farms: Cycelia and Sam Knott, this father/daughter team I are up and coming breeders in the industry. They have been producing for around 10 years and have grown substantially through purchasing high dollar animals and flushing in order to increase their offspring output. They manage around 150 head of recips and around 70 head of production does. They have been dominating the show and sale industry for the past few years and have been accelerating through the ability to flush most of their production does. In the industry of livestock it’s all about creating and producing the next best animal on a consistent level. I have the tools and the intellect to manage these animals in a different manner than other producers. I have the nutritional knowledge and skills given to me by my mentors to produce animals with longevity that can be sold to others and work to make their programs better as well. I am determined to mane the name of my company one that comes with a long-standing image of successful, productive animals with quality service to other producers and the industry as a whole. I understand the struggle of starting out new in the business of agriculture while others have been at it so the a lot more experience than yourself. I will have the ability to work with other producers (new or existing) and be willing to share my solutions to struggles I experienced to help them better their herds as well. I am a firm believer each producer makes the industry better and we are all working towards the same goal. Many larger breeders can sometimes forget that we have to help others in order to help ourselves. I plan on being a more accessible and helpful breeder than most and guide other the way I have been. Growing todays breeders to make a more prosperous future for all of us.
