Day Dinkers Club | Application Preview
The Day Dinkers Club is seeking government grants to support its growth as a women-led business focused on producing high-quality pickleball apparel. The funds will primarily be used for inventory and advertising to increase visibility in this rapidly growing market.
The business has established partnerships with a local boutique and a country club to distribute its products. To further expand its reach, the owner plans to leverage brand ambassadors who are enthusiastic about pickleball. With a background in marketing, writing, and design, the owner personally designs all apparel, aiming for an elevated look that sets her product apart from mainstream options available on platforms like Amazon.
The owner is passionate about pickleball and strives to promote its inclusive nature through her writing and community engagement. As a mother of four, she sees this venture as not only a personal dream but also an opportunity to contribute positively to the growing pickleball community.
In terms of competition, the owner acknowledges that while there are many small shops offering basic gear, there is a lack of high-quality, stylish pickleball apparel. Her commitment to using superior materials and offering unique designs gives her a competitive advantage. Additionally, her hands-on approach as a sole proprietor allows her to maintain authenticity and build a strong online presence, aided by endorsements from reputable brand ambassadors, including professional players.

Business Plan
I have already patterned with a local boutique and a country club to have my apparel in their stores. I am going to continue to utilize brand ambassadors to be my “feet on the ground”. I myself am a pickleball player and am passionate about the game. My background is marketing, writing and design. I design all my own clothing and will not be found on Amazon or zazzle, I am interested in an elevated look, and a quality product. At the same time, I am utilizing my writing skills to blog about how wonderful pickleball is to bring people together, no matter age, race, religion, income, or any other belief system. I believe that I am a candidate that would be worthy of a grant because I am a mother of four children and my passion has been sparked. I feel fortunate enough to have the wherewithal to create my own website, designs and writing. I just need more support to get my product out into the world. Pickleball truly is gaining speed at a lightning pace so this market is one that will not be going away anytime soon.

Self Identified Competition
This is a wonderful thing… There are many mom and Pop shops that are throwing T-shirts out into the world, but there really aren’t quality Pickleball threads out there. I am looking for an elevated look with superior, quality materials and embroidery. I am different from my competitors because I am a one-man band and I am doing all of my own designs and maintaining my website authentically at the same time. I am working on building a community of followers on social media platforms, and I have had a lot of momentum in the form of brand ambassadors who are high-level players, including touring pro players .
