The Victory Tree dba The Refuge Ministries | Application Preview

The Victory Tree, operating as The Refuge Ministries, is submitting a government grant application to address significant challenges faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization has experienced a severe depletion of funds, which has impacted their food pantry and clothing room, leaving them unable to support their community effectively despite having assisted numerous individuals during the pandemic.

To improve their services, they are in the process of hiring a program director, which will facilitate an expansion of their offerings, particularly in pre-trial and pre-release support programs. The current executive director will focus more on grant writing and securing additional funding.

The need for funding is underscored by their coverage area, which spans 23 counties in north Texas, and includes a vulnerable population of refugees and immigrants, many of whom are left destitute after job loss. There are no other facilities like theirs in the region, making them the sole sober living and homeless shelter available.

In summary, the organization argues that funding is crucial not only for its survival but also for continuing to offer indispensable support services to a population that has few other resources. Their unique position without competition further reinforces the importance of their work in the community.

Covid drained our balance sheet and zapped our prudent reserve. Our food pantry cannot afford food and our clothing room cannot afford clothing. We helped hundreds of people during Covid, many with Covid with little additional help or funds.

  • Business Plan

We are in the process of hiring a program director, expanding our program to offer more pre-trial , pre-release and hopes to attract various county and state funds in the process. As well, as the new program director takes over my job as executive director will be specifically in the realm of grants and grant writing. We cover a very large area of north Texas, 23 counties with thousands of refugees and immigrants , dairy workers and packing plant employees. When these refugees are terminated for whatever reason they are literally left with nothing. They take their housing, the welfare and they are left with no food, no shelter and no funds to operate with.

  • Self Identified Competition

There are none. We are the only sober living facility and the only homeless shelter in the 23 counties of far north Texas, Oklahoma panhandle and parts of New Mexico There are none! We are it! We are the only sober living and homeless shelter in far north Texas.
