Miss Elsie's Bookkeeping Discipleship LLC 88-1766873 | Government Grant Application

Miss Elsie's Bookkeeping Discipleship LLC | Application Preview

Miss Elsie's Bookkeeping Discipleship LLC is seeking government grants to fund the development of an innovative bookkeeping course. The funds will cover course and textbook creation, advertising, contractor payments, software expenses, and coaching to equip the owner in becoming an effective course provider.

The business plan includes launching live group classes for 10-20 participants and expanding to additional courses and resources over time. After establishing a solid presence for six months to a year, the goal is to hire a team to assist with teaching, mentorship, managing a private Facebook group, and advertising, ultimately positioning the organization as a leading source for bookkeeping education.

The proposed course intends to address a significant shortage of qualified bookkeepers by providing comprehensive training. Current training options are inadequate, leading many new bookkeepers to struggle and face employment challenges. Miss Elsie aims to deliver practical, hands-on experience in QuickBooks Online, focusing on real-world applications rather than basic theory, which sets her course apart from competitors, like Bookkeeper Launch and Coursera.

The unique approach emphasizes extensive practice, addressing the gap in existing educational offerings and catering to both aspiring bookkeepers and business owners wishing to manage their own books. With 23 years of experience, Miss Elsie is confident in her ability to provide the necessary skills for success in the bookkeeping profession.

  • Funding Usage

The funds would be used only to complete the course creation, complete the text book, advertise the course, to pay the contractor to complete everything, software costs in relation to the course, and for the coaching to teach me how to be a course provider.

  • Business Plan

Once the course is completed, I'll be taking on 10-20 individuals (maybe more, depending on how much total interest there is) for a live group class. I would like to grow it exponentially in other areas: more courses and resources. Once everything is live for six months to one year, I'd like to begin hiring a team of people who can teach, run the private Facebook group, help do mentorship, and do advertising. The plan is to be a leading source for bookkeeping courses. Because this is a one-of-a-kind bookkeeping course. There is a huge bookkeeper shortage right now. Many new bookkeepers are learning from very basic bookkeeping courses and, unless they already had a little bit of bookkeeping experience, most of the individuals taking these courses are failing. Not only are they failing, they're finding themselves not hirable and if they're actually working on a client's books, they're failing the client in a very big way because they don't know the legalities of the new industry they're attempting to work in. CPAs are refusing to hire newer bookkeepers because of this and there aren't enough seasoned bookkeepers needing jobs. I'm here as a solution to the shortage, to help give people the confidence to know what they're doing, and to give them a chance. I'm also helping current business owners who may not feel comfortable hiring someone to do their bookkeeping and want to learn how to do the bookkeeping themselves. With 23 years as a bookkeeper who has been doing cleanups my entire career, I feel confident that I can teach individuals everything they need to learn to have a successful career or to successfully handle their own bookkeeping.

  • Self Identified Competition

Bookkeeper Launch, Coursera, Bookkeeping Academy Online, and a few others Most online courses only offer "on-demand videos" that are 5-15 minutes long and they touch on very little - they're extremely basic courses and they're teaching everyone by talking at them so there's never any practice. Colleges teach us how to do accounting by hand for the first 3/4 of a college career, then computerized accounting only for 1/4 of the term. I'll be teaching the fundamentals for only 1/4 of the term and 3/4 of term will be practice within QuickBooks Online. Most people learn by doing, which is why my focus is on practical teaching. I'm also teaching them how to do all bookkeeping, so it's an extremely extensive bookkeeping course. As far as I know, there's no other course around like this.
