Our Archives Co. 1001534447 | Government Grant Application

Our Archives Co. | Application Preview

Our Archives Co. is seeking government funding to help establish a storefront in their local community, building on a strong foundation they've created over the past 10 months. The funding would cover expenses such as rent, build-out, and inventory, as they aim to expand their operations and better serve their growing online following.

The business plan reflects significant progress, with a vision for further growth over the next five years. The owner emphasizes a resilient work ethic, drawing on past experiences as a DECA president and succeeding in a challenging job at a medical supply company despite personal hurdles, including becoming a teen parent. These experiences shaped her motivation to create a sustainable business that allows her to balance work and family life.

In terms of competition, the business faces established brands like American Eagle, H&M, and Shein in the clothing market. However, the owner believes her youth and the uniqueness of her handmade products provide a competitive advantage that sets her apart from larger retailers. This grant would enable her to pursue her dream while providing for her child, ultimately enhancing her business's local presence.

  • Funding Usage

I have grown a large following in my local community. My dream has always been to open a store front. I would use the funding for all the cost to open my storefront in my community. This includes build out, inventory, and rent.

  • Business Plan

I have already grown so much in the 10 months I have been in business. I can’t even imagine where I would be in 5 years. I imagine my online following will grow as that’s one of my main goals right now. I plan to have a storefront and obviously have a more streamlined process to my business. One thing about me is I never let myself fail. Time and time again life has thrown me hard challenges and I have overcome them. I am a extremely hard worker that always finds a way to win. When I’m high school, I was apart of an extremely academic challenging program that I loved. It was for aspiring entrepreneurs and it was called DECA. i knew I could better the program that we had, and I knew what the students in the group wanted, so I worked hard to become president of this organization, and in 2019-2020 which was my senior year as president, I had the largest DECA organization in all of Tennessee. This won us many grants for our school program. I then went on to a job at Cardinal Heath which was a medical supply company for oncology drugs. At 18, I was the youngest person they had ever brought on and was there for 2 years. At this time I also found out I was pregnant. The thought of being a teen mom scared me, however I worked hard to give my baby a great childhood. I worked full time from home while watching him and eventually started my own business so I can be there for him more while doing what I loved. I did not succeed with my business at first. My business plan wasn’t working and I had to revisit my plan and twerk it. After finding what worked I did $20,000 in the first 3 months and that was online orders only. I absolutely love what I do and my passion for business that I’ve had ever since high school is what has gotten me to where I am today. This money would help me live my dream while supporting my baby and I with a storefront.

  • Self Identified Competition

Businesses like American Eagle, H&M, and Shein are all my competitors. As a clothing store. I think what makes my different is my age. I am 20 years old running my business, alone. Imagine what I can accomplish with a few years under my belt. What also makes me different is that majority of my items are handmade which makes them unique and something you can’t get at a big box store.
