MJL Consulting Group TBD | Government Grant Application

MJL Consulting Group | Application Preview

MJL Consulting Group is seeking government grants to support several key business expenses. The funding will be allocated towards legal services for establishing an LLC, hiring a small business accountant, developing a website alongside marketing materials and social media presence, and investing in training related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and public speaking.

In the initial two years, the founder plans to independently build the business, with an intention to hire additional coaches and administrative support as it grows. This team would assist in further expanding the business's reach.

The rationale for funding approval lies in the unique approach taken towards enhancing the DEI dialogue. The focus on engaging white male leaders is seen as essential since they hold significant influence in various organizations. The goal is to foster awareness and accountability, urging these leaders to go beyond mere allyship.

While recognizing the presence of other leadership coaches and DEI practitioners in the field, the applicant does not view them as direct competitors but rather as partners in advancing the DEI conversation. The founder believes that his identity as a straight white male positions him uniquely to connect with and motivate others in this demographic, encouraging them to take an active role in this crucial discussion.

  • Funding Usage

There are several upcoming expenses that I would use the grant for: - working with a lawyer to establish the business (LLC creation) - hiring professional services such as a small business accountant - creating a website, marketing materials, and social media presence - further training and development in the DEI and speaking space

  • Business Plan

My plan for the first two years is to build the business on my own; however, I would look to expand to hiring a small staff of fellow coaches to help expand the business beyond year 2. I would also like to bring on some administrative support to assist with scheduling and marketing in order to continue to grow the business. My approach to furthering the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion conversation is unique and much needed. Focusing on white male leaders who hold the majority of influence in both private and public organizations will help further the efforts in this space. My intent is create awareness, acknowledgement, atonement, action, and accountability in the DEI space. I believe fellow white men need to move beyond allyship to going ALL IN!

  • Self Identified Competition

There are a number of leadership coaches and DEI practitioners; however, I do not consider them competitors as we all play a part in furthering this conversation. I identify as a straight white male. Ironically, this is what makes me unique to others in the space. I believe women and people of color have been carrying the weight of the DEI conversation and it is time for fellow with men to step forward and step up in this space. Having a shared lived experience allows me to speak truth to other men that helps get them more engaged in this critical conversation.
