Homes for Heroes, Inc. 36-5049351 | Government Grant Application

Homes for Heroes, Inc. | Application Preview

Homes for Heroes, Inc. is seeking government grants to support their mission of addressing homelessness by acquiring 8-10 single-family homes in Tucson, AZ. The funding will cover down payments, closing costs, and operational expenses for these properties.

The business aims to expand from its initial base in Tucson to other major cities across Arizona and beyond, including Phoenix, Sierra Vista, Las Vegas, and San Diego. The selection of new locations is targeted towards areas with VA Medical facilities to better serve veterans.

The need for this funding is underscored by the increasing difficulty of finding affordable housing solutions in high-cost areas. Homes for Heroes advocates for shared housing as an effective solution to homelessness. They emphasize that coordinating shared housing can help vulnerable individuals find stability while leveraging proven models from other regions.

In a competitive landscape that includes existing services for homeless veterans and related organizations, Homes for Heroes distinguishes itself by providing newly furnished homes in locations that offer easy access to public transportation, shopping, schools, and other essential services. This strategic approach aims to enhance the quality of life for shared housing residents.

  • Business Plan

We plan on growing Homes for Heroes from a 8-10 home operation in Tucson, AZ by expanding and replicating our effort in other major cities throughout Arizona, regionally and nationally. Once our operation sis fully operational in Tucson, we will then acquire properties in Phoenix and Sierra Vista, AZ, Las Vegas, NV, San Diego, CA and other major cities. Any major city that has a VA Medical facility would be a candidate for a Homes for Heroes facility. Identifying new affordable housing options for people facing homelessness is a complex challenge, especially in high-cost housing markets. Shared Housing - where two or more unrelated individuals share housing costs and common space - is an adaptable solution when coordination happens at the system level. For communities struggling to find rapid pathways to address the human and social crises of homelessness, the time to expand shared housing options is now. Multiple organizations across the country have led the way, showing that shared housing can - and does - work. Shared housing is a norm in our national housing market, and can be a norm in our system-wide response to end homelessness.
