BCR Land Management LLC | Application Preview
BCR Land Management LLC is seeking government grants to enhance its tree service operations and expand its forestry mulching division. The funding will be used to purchase a used bucket/chipper truck and a 12-15' chipper, which will enable the company to better compete and reach more customers across southern Oregon. Additionally, the company plans to buy an excavator compatible with its existing masticating head to support fire-wise protection efforts in residential and rural areas.
The business intends to hire more employees and maximize the potential of each division. BCR Land Management is committed to providing professional employment opportunities, offering competitive wages, on-the-job training, and benefits for employees and their families after six months. The company distinguishes itself from competitors by focusing on professional development, including ongoing education and training, which is not commonly found in the local industry.
In comparison to local competitors, BCR Land Management faces challenges from established firms like Western Pacific Tree Service, which has a stronghold in the area due to longstanding contracts and a larger workforce. However, they have reached their growth limits and often struggle to manage residential jobs, creating opportunities for BCR. Another competitor, It's A Green World Landscape, operates without the required licenses, allowing them to undercut prices, though this practice raises concerns among enforcement agencies.
BCR Land Management's competitive advantages include higher starting wages, comprehensive benefits after six months, and a focus on employee safety through modern equipment and training. Unlike many local competitors, the company hires legitimate W-2 employees covered by workers' compensation, ensuring compliance with regulations and enhancing trust with customers. Overall, BCR Land Management is positioned to contribute positively to the community while expanding its reach and services in southern Oregon.

Funding Usage
First I would like to purchase a used bucket/chipper truck and a used 12-15" capacity chipper. This would allow me to be more competitive with my tree service company and expand to the areas that I would like to service. Secondly I would like to purchase and excavator to fit the masticating head that I have for forestry work. This would help with my forestry mulching division that provides fire wise protection in residential and rural settings in southern Oregon. Lastly I would use funds to help with employee hiring, payroll security and human resourcing.

Business Plan
My plan is to hire more employees and expand each division to its full capacity. Through doing this it will help my company to expand to service all of southern Oregon. My company is helping to change the area in many ways. I am offering professional solutions, in a safe, green manner to help serve southern Oregon. I am not only offering professional services to our customers, I am also offering professional employment opportunities to people who would benefit from working for a professional company such as BCR Land Management. I offer competitive wages, on the job training, benefits to employees after 6 months with the company, and these benefits are available to their family as well. I offer continuing education for employees in the field with which they specialize and memberships and attendance to continuing education conferences as well. This sets my company aside from all others in my field, and in the area with which we work. Nobody in this area is providing this within their company. I feel that this crates a professional company, that can offer professional solutions, with professionally trained and licensed employees. This in turn creates company growth, and allows me to expand to service the areas that I have targeted. It also gives our customers the peace of mind knowing that they have the best company for their project.

Self Identified Competition
Tree service: 1. Western Pacific Tree Service: Have been in business locally for 20+ years. Local tree service that has had a line clearing contract with coos curry electric company for 20+ years. They have a monopoly with this this contract. No other tree service is large enough to compete. This is their main contract. They also service residential tree jobs, however are somewhat limited even though they have many more employees than I. They often times have to limit or completely shut down their residential side of the company due to the workload involved with their other operations. This leaves an over flow of work that my company can handle, and to continue to be competitive with our bidding process, however I need hydraulic assistance equipment to be competitive. They also have maxed out with their company growth. They are limited to the southern Oregon coast, mainly Brookings and Gold Beach. They do not do any tree work outside of these areas. My company is looking to expand out across southern Oregon, and have looked at jobs in Grants Pass, and Cave Junction. They also do not provide what I do for employees, and have had several of their employees voice their willingness to move to my company, and have had one do so in the past. They also perform selective logging and forestry mulching, which are two things that my company provides, but they are more focused on sudden oak death than they are on residential projects. 2. It's A Green World Landscape: This company is a competitor in landscape maintenance and landscape installation. For many years this company has operated unlicensed, and still may be doing so to this day. I often receive calls from LCB enforcement about their activities. They provide all of the services that my licensed company does, however, they have been receiving fines for years for providing services with no proper licensing. This at times, makes it a little difficult to compete, when they are providing unlicensed work, and undercutting prices. There are several points that set my company apart from other local competitors. We start our employee wages at a slightly higher rate, and offer benefits after 6 months of employment with the option for family benefits as well. These benefits are vision, dental, retirement, and HSA accounts. I also offer continuing education to all employees within the field of their specialization. I will provide paid classes when they attend education conferences, require attendance to continuing education seminars and safety education courses provided through BCR Land Management. Outside of providing a more professional work environment for my employees, I also specialize in implementing cutting edge execution of our work with the use of newer, safer equipment and techniques. I look to provide, maintain and use equipment that will keep employees safe, and offer efficient, green solutions for the services that I am looking to provide. Another large note that sets my company apart is that I employ W-2 employees who are not paid under the table, and are covered with workers compensation and quarterly reporting through my company. I also provide services that we are LICENSED for, I can not express the level of importance that this has, especially in the area where I live, and it seems that many companies work without proper licensing, insurance, or workers compensation.
