AbmanaLu Studios | Application Preview
AbmanaLu Studios is seeking government funding to expand its product offerings to include apparel, mugs, bags, handmade sketchbooks, and home decor. The grant will also support website hosting on Shopify, domain costs, and overhead expenses.
The business plan focuses on local expansion with the goal of opening a small boutique that features both AbmanaLu items and select consignment products. The founder aims to create a welcoming atmosphere that embraces diversity, particularly for individuals who are neurodivergent or face challenges in traditional employment settings.
The funding request highlights a commitment to uniqueness and community support. The founder's personal struggles with conventional workplaces inspire the desire to create an inclusive environment where others, like her daughter and individuals from marginalized backgrounds, can find meaningful work and independence.
The competitive edge lies in the boutique's focus on an accepting atmosphere for a variety of identities, including LGBTQ+, neurodivergent individuals, and those facing societal stigma. By prioritizing meaningful employment opportunities for those who may otherwise struggle to find jobs, AbmanaLu Studios aims to foster a supportive community and empower individuals to achieve their goals and aspirations.

Business Plan
I plan on expanding locally and to hopefully be able to open a small local boutique selling not only my items but also items on consignment. I want to be able to expand and sell more unique items and eventually open a small local boutique that I will hire neurodivergent and hard to hire people to help make items, run the shop, and to tend to customers. I want to be able to give others a shot at making and selling things and to help them learn how to do so and maybe eventually, they can go on to open their own small business and feel some type of independence and accomplishment. I personally have had difficulty maintaining working for someone else because of how strict some rules can be, and I have a daughter who has too much anxiety to consider working for a big business that I would love to hire on and pay her for the work she can do for me. I want to hire other people like her and me. Have a relaxed atmosphere and welcoming to where people who are just not the norm can go and shop, enjoy themselves and possibly work there.

Self Identified Competition
Locally, there are no competitors other than big box retail stores, but I will be setting myself apart by making sure to have a more welcoming and homey like feel. Run and owned by a person with a few mental health issues, but is weird and quirky and unique in a lot of ways that wants to help people a lot like me and have an accepting place for people of a variety walks of life. LGBTQ+, Autistic, ADHD, the weird ones, the nerds, the unaccepted are all welcome. I want to provide jobs for people who need them and have a hard time getting them. My vision is having someone who normally wouldnt stand a chance getting a job as a cashier anywhere to be able to work with me and help me run my shop. I want to help those that need help, especially people who have been disowned by their familys just for being who they are. I want to offer beginnings to those in their 20s that feel like they cant get anywhere and have all but given up.
