AHA Instructor | Application Preview
The AHA Instructor is seeking government grants to fund a program aimed at educating young people in Lorain County, Ohio, on life-saving skills. Since 2015, the instructor has been dedicated to empowering youth through education on first aid and CPR, but many students are unable to afford the $75 fee for a two-year certification. The goal is to make this essential training accessible to those in need.
The instructor plans to partner with local schools and churches to promote this community service, focusing on teaching how to recognize and respond to medical emergencies, including heart attacks and strokes. The funding will not only support the instructor’s efforts but will also help build confidence and achievement among the youth, positively impacting their mental health.
With a background in criminal justice and current volunteer work at the Juvenile Detention Center, the instructor believes that empowering youth through education ultimately benefits society as a whole. There is little competition for this initiative, highlighting the unique opportunity for investment in the community. The instructor seeks support to provide these critical services to those who cannot afford them.

Funding Usage
The funding would be utilized to engage a portion of the young population (in Lorain County, Ohio) to empower them with knowledge of "saving lives" and not "taking lives". I have been an Instructor with American Heart Assoc since 2015. The most important goal is to teach a student to be prepared to act in a medical emergency. I find that as I engage with the youth, there is a thirst for these students to learn, but the parents are not able to afford the education. I would like to provide this service to the youth who cannot afford the $75 cost for the 2-year certification. I have absorbed the cost for some students but cannot afford to continue to do so.

Business Plan
I plan on growing my business by reaching out to schools and churches to make them aware of this community service that I have to offer. The course offers the basics of first aid, the most common life-threatening emergencies (heart attack, stroke), how to recognize them and help. The student will learn how to recognize when someone needs CPR, how to call for help, and how to give CPR and use an AED. The investors would not only be investing in me, but they would also be investing in a community of youth that needs the empowerment and confidence to say, "I am good at something, I can achieve my goals". It should not be surprising to anyone how achievements can be good for your Mental Health. I have noticed a significant change in a young person's minds when they receive a certificate of achievement, so this is my way of giving back to the community. I have worked in the criminal justice system for 30 years as a correctional officer. I now volunteer my time at the Juvenile Detention Center. Empowering the youth with education empowers society, therefore, we all benefit.

Self Identified Competition
Me, myself and I. I just want to provide a service to the community while I am mobile and trained to do so. Many have asked for this CPR certification but cannot afford the fee. Please help and thank you for your time.
