Bud to Bloom Play Therapy LLC | Application Preview
Bud to Bloom Play Therapy LLC is seeking government grant funding to enhance its services by relocating to a larger space and providing essential training for clinicians in specialized therapeutic modalities such as EMDR, Play Therapy, and Theraplay. The business aims to hire 3-5 additional therapists to broaden the range of services offered, including support groups for foster and adoptive families, and community programs like a toy library and caregiver playtime events.
The organization stands out in St. Louis by filling a critical service gap for foster/adoptive youth and children who have faced trauma. Training funded by this grant would ensure therapists stay updated on best practices for effectively supporting these populations. As one of the few Black play therapists in the area, the funding will also assist in diversifying the workforce by hiring and training clinicians of color, thus improving access to culturally competent care.
Unlike competitors such as Come Play STL, St. Louis Play Therapy, and Compassionate Counseling St. Louis, many of whom primarily serve private-pay clients, Bud to Bloom accepts Medicaid and collaborates with nonprofits to offer affordable services. Their focus on trauma-informed modalities and commitment to both clients and clinicians through high-quality training and supportive environments reinforces their unique position in the market.

Business Plan
I plan to grow my business through acquiring a new and larger location that will allow for additional services. I plan to hire 3-5 therapist to expand out therapeutic services within the community. I also plan to expand services to include parent and child group to help support foster and adoptive families and families healing from trauma. I also plan to begin offering community programming that tis free or low cost including a toy library, play times for caregivers and young children. Bud to Bloom Play Therapy is a unique organization that fills that gap in services in St. Louis city for foster/adoptive youth and children who have experienced trauma. Therapist are required to continue their education to make sure they are abreast or best practices for this population. Funding would help clinicians to be trained in practices to best serve their clients. I am one of few black play therapists in St. Louis and funding would help me to expand my business and hire and train other clinicians of color to create more access to out unique services and to clinicians with various identifies. Increasing the number of child and family therapists of color is a something I hope to do within my business.

Self Identified Competition
My top 3 competitors are Come Play Stl, St. Louis Play Therapy, and Compassionate Counseling St. Louis. They are all therapy practices that also specialize in children and play therapy. They are all located in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Many of my competitors are private pay making them inaccessible. At Bud to Bloom Play Therapy we are private pay and accept medicaid to expand access to services, we also work with nonprofit to provide free and low cost services to families that need it. Other practices are more general in what they treat whereas at bud to bloom play therapy we have specific training in modalities to help with attachment, trauma and behaviors. Bud to Bloom Play Therapy has a 2 fold mission too provide excellent high quality therapy to children and families and provide and great place for therapist to work so that they can provide the best services they can. We do this through high quality training and group consultations to make sure clinicians feel supported and are aware of bests practices.
