Dumper's Speed Shop 93-1354467 | Government Grant Application

Dumper's Speed Shop | Application Preview

Dumper's Speed Shop is seeking government funding to support its initial purchase orders, essential for maintaining adequate stock levels as the business gets started. The owner is not asking for a large sum; instead, a smaller grant would significantly alleviate the financial pressure of self-funding.

The business plan revolves around introducing new and exciting products from vendors in the upcoming months, alongside participating in radio control racing events. With 18 years of experience in the industry, the owner aims to leverage their established reputation to appeal to a customer base eager for this new venture. Increased funding would allow for larger orders, which would lead to reduced shipping costs.

The owner emphasizes a deep commitment to the industry, offering around-the-clock support for customers. Their extensive experience and understanding of the evolving market position them well against competitors. Unlike other companies that may lack personal customer interaction, Dumper's Speed Shop prioritizes accessibility and customer service, setting it apart in a competitive landscape.

In terms of competition, notable rivals include Awesomatix USA, Calandra Racing Concepts (the owner's former employer), and X-Ray. However, the owner believes their transparency and dedication to customer success provide a distinct advantage. Winning a race contributes to the business’s success but helping customers achieve the same is viewed as even more beneficial, reinforcing the community-focused ethos of Dumper's Speed Shop.

  • Funding Usage

The money would towards the funding of my purchase orders to help keep stock levels up as needed. I am not looking for a million dollars. Would more money help? Always. However, getting a little boost in the beginning of my journey would help ease the burden of having to self fund all of my orders.

  • Business Plan

The vendors that I have aligned myself with, have lots of new exciting products coming in the next few months. I look forward to bringing these to market here in North America. We will have a presence at radio control racing events. I have been doing this for the last 18 years working for someone else. I want to take my experience and reputation and use it for myself. My customer base is very excited for my new venture, and invitations to race in events and to put on demonstrations are already rolling in. However, to purchase enough product, requires capital. By increasing the sizes of my orders, it will greatly reduce my shipping costs. I live and breathe this industry. I am available to my customers 24/7, and have proven that to them during my 18 year career at my former employer (and now competitor). I have been in this industry for over 30 years, and have learned what and what not to do. I started way before the internet was a thing, and have witnessed how it has changed the landscape of what I do. I have also seen how the customer base (the people themselves) have changed. I travel to 25-35 events every year, not only in America, but worldwide if needed. I have always and will continue to put my customers first. The personal touch in this industry is just about gone. There are multiple companies that I now compete against, that you can not even call for assistance. I, on the other hand, am literally the most accessible person in radio control car racing. My customers know it. I have helped out customers from other companies, because they can not get answers from who they bought from. I know that someday, they will buy from me.

  • Self Identified Competition

Awesomatix USA - The owner lives in Seattle, products get shipped out of New York City area. Calandra Racing Concepts - This is my former employer. The owner is older and is not interested in growing his business much further. Based in upstate New York. X-Ray - Based out of Slovakia, they have a US shipping hub in Texas. What makes different from my competitors? That is tough to explain to someone who doesn't compete in the world of radio controlled car racing. I can tell you that when I made the announcement that I was leaving Calandra Racing, both of the other companies I listed above both offered me a job. They know what I bring to the table. The world of auto racing (radio controlled or full scale "real" race cars) is a strange business. The people who sell products from companies are also your competitors. So there is always a bit of a shadow of doubt when you get help from a company representative. But people know that they can come over and look at my cars, or I will send them pictures of my race cars if they need help. I hide nothing from my customers. In the end I know, that if I win a big race, yes it is great for my company. However, if you, a paying customer, goes out and wins a big race, then that is even better for my company.
