Bear Necessities Aerial Photography LLC | Application Preview
Bear Necessities Aerial Photography LLC is applying for government grants to enhance its operations. The funding will support continuing education and certifications, allowing for upgrades and replacements of drone equipment, especially in light of potential restrictions on existing drones. The grant will also help with maintaining a business vehicle to secure essential equipment on-site and acquiring necessary software and hardware for processing client materials.
The business aims to expand into new areas, including thermal inspections, search and rescue, and more comprehensive video and photography services. The owner emphasizes the importance of networking and staying current with industry trends through expos and collaborations, with a vision to grow from a local veteran-owned operation to a nationally recognized brand. The grant would facilitate training that enhances service offerings, benefiting communities through promotional materials for local tourism and events.
The owner, a disabled veteran with extensive experience in law enforcement and emergency response, believes in the unique advantages of drone work. They cite safety in conducting inspections and the efficiency of emergency assessments as key benefits. This background positions them to address critical infrastructure needs, especially during natural disasters.
The competitive landscape includes established companies like Georgia Drone and Dronegenuity, as well as numerous freelancers, but Bear Necessities aims to differentiate itself with personalized service and a deep understanding of client needs. The owner's passion and commitment to quality are seen as significant advantages in attracting repeat business and new clients.

Equipment for those drones and mapping gear must be secured, and cases must be carried in. Business Plan
The ability to grow this business will be greatly enhanced with a grant to allow for more certification and training courses, allowing me to expand the field of work to include thermal inspections of critical infrastructure at the Federal and State levels, search and rescue, residential inspections, construction sites, and video/photography work. Networking will be key in this business, along with the actual work itself. Going to expos and other venues across the country to see new trends and equipment that will ensure that I am keeping up with current technology changes. Those venues will allow me to meet and network with competitors and businesses looking for the skills I have learned and conducted over the years. Growing from a local veteran-owned business to statewide recognition to national attention is my goal. It will be obtained through the training and experience I have obtained over the years through projects and social media content. Continue to work with cities and counties to help promote their tourism, activities, and sites to visit by providing a video and photo roll that will show off key areas that will be used on their web pages and social media sites. As my certifications and experience grow, the business will as well because of my staying on the bleeding edge of this up-and-coming technology field and high-in-demand work. As a disabled veteran (11 years in the US Army) and a local police officer and Federal law enforcement officer (US Homeland Security) for over 25 years, I believe in giving back and serving the community. That is why I believe that the area of drone work is a niche that needs to be filled for several reasons. To conduct inspections, people won't be put at risk when climbing roofs, buildings, or electric towers. It will save time and money for the company and those requesting the service. Critical infrastructure inspections are necessary during natural disasters affecting homes, office buildings, bridges, and power grid systems. I have experience helping others in disasters, including Hurricane Sandy and multiple tornado touchdowns in Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas. My passion for helping others carries over to the field of drone work, which can be the game changer in quickly assessing situations and providing first responders with the best, most accurate available information to make a sound decision, therefore, saving lives.

Self Identified Competition
1. The Georgia Drone. This major company in the South uses a professional staff and team of Drone operators to handle everything from inspections, real estate, social media photos/videos, construction, commercial work, inspections, thermal, and mapping. 2. Dronegenuity. Another major player in the Metro Atlanta area where I'm from has an experienced staff well known and sought after for their professional line of work. This includes real estate, marking photos/videos, and inspection and mapping services. 3. Not one specific competitor but multiple businesses and persons considered Freelancers. They use worksites such as Upwork, and Fivver can have multiple businesses that will bid for work or solicit work on social media sites for short-term or even long-term work. I add a personal touch when it comes to working with clients. Understanding their needs and wants when it comes to photography or video shoots. I understand their needs regarding search and rescue and working in emergency response missions. I can adapt to their specific situations since I was an emergency response officer myself. I love what I do and don't consider it a "job." This means I put in the work and will provide a professional quality product that my peers would respect, allowing for return customers or referrals to new customers.
