Beezee Handmade LLC 22265647 | Government Grant Application

Beezee Handmade LLC | Application Preview

Beezee Handmade LLC is seeking government grant funding to establish and grow a small business focused on creating handcrafted products for mothers and babies. The funds will be utilized to purchase fabric and a heavy-duty sewing machine, as well as to secure a vendor membership for local markets, providing a platform for earning income. The owner, currently Active Duty military, aims to transition to the Reserves by May 2024 and wishes to make this business a primary income source for her family.

The business plan spans the next five years, with goals to expand online through collaborations with media and influencers, and to eventually hire staff for shipping. A long-term vision includes opening a physical store to serve the local community with high-quality, thoughtfully made products.

The application emphasizes the need for funding due to the owner's desire to prioritize family life while transitioning from military service. She highlights her commitment to giving back to non-profit organizations, including those that support veterans and animal welfare, as her business becomes established.

In terms of competition, the owner notes that local offerings primarily come from mall stores that may not align with her values regarding ethical production. Her competitive edge lies in her commitment to eco-friendliness and ethical sourcing, using organic fabrics from a local small business and avoiding plastic in packaging. This approach appeals to environmentally conscious consumers and provides peace of mind for parents concerned about their children's products.

  • Funding Usage

I wish to use these funds as a small starting capital to purchase multiple yards of fabric and equipment (a heavy duty sewing machine) to create my items. I also wish to use these to pay for a Vendor membership for the local Saturday markets in order to secure a weekly spot and earn income that way. I am currently Active Duty military but hoping to join the Reserves by May 2024, and would like to have my small business become a main source of income for my family. Thank you so much for your consideration.

  • Business Plan

In the next 5 years, I plan to scale my business online by collaborating with media outlets, articles, newspapers and social media influencers to reach a wider audience. When the time comes, I will hire one to two employees to assist with shipping while I focus on what I love most- the creation of products. Eventually, I would like to open a brick and mortar for our local community to enjoy, serving moms and babies with thoughtfully handcrafted, high-quality products. I am a mother of two small children, and while serving our country has been the highest honor of my life, it is time to reallocate my time and efforts toward raising my family. In order to make that happen, I need a main source of income as the Reserve pay will not suffice. I need to get my business to humbly take off, and these funds would help tremendously with the start up costs. When I am established and comfortable, I will give back by donating to non-profit organizations. I am particularly fond of the CSRA Humane Society where we adopted our two very old, but loving furry friends, the Child Rescue Coalition, and other charities supporting veterans.

  • Self Identified Competition

The only ones in my industry here locally are the stores you can find at the mall. From my understanding, items sold there are manufactured or exported from abroad, most likely taking advantage of sweat shops and child labor- all of which go against my core values. I love our environment, our children, our mothers, and our nation. I strive to be as eco-friendly as possible. I don't use plastic in any of our packaging. I purchase my fabrics from a fellow small business located in Washington State who sells organic fabrics that are milled and dyed in the USA. Organic cotton is best for babies, which gives mothers the peace of mind that what I create are not only good for the environment, but also for their children. Additionally, they are supporting an ethical, one-woman business right here on our own soil.
