Grandude's Motorcycle Shop | Application Preview
Grandude's Motorcycle Shop is applying for government grants to enhance their service department and merchandise area. They plan to invest in tools, including a tire machine at $5,000, to improve efficiency and expand their offerings, particularly a tire change service that is currently unavailable in Longmont. The shop aims to create a more appealing space for merchandise to boost sales.
Over the next five years, the business intends to expand its tool selection, increase merchandise variety, and hire at least five employees, investing all profits back into the shop. The owners emphasize their commitment to building a community-focused environment that is inclusive of all motorcycle riders, regardless of background or identity.
They highlight a lack of direct competition, as local shops cater to specific brands or types of bikes, while Grandude's services all makes and models with quicker turnaround times. The owners believe that with financial support, they can transform their vision into a reality, benefiting both their business and the local motorcycle community.

Funding Usage
This funding would be used to build out the service department to make the space more usable. We need some tools that will allow us to get through jobs quicker which would then allow us to bill out more. We could really use a tire machine ($5000) so that we could offer tire change service. That is a service that is not offered in Longmont and we would love to be able to offer that service. We would love to build out the merchandise area to draw more attention to the boutique side of the shop. We have put everything we have into getting this up and running and we are doing okay with where we are at. We know that we could take off if we just had a little bit of help.

Business Plan
In the next 5 years we would like to have more tools, more merchandise, and at least 5 employees. Every dollar we make is put right back into the shop so that we can achieve these goals. We are not only building a business, we are building a community. The motorcycle community in Longmont is fantastic and we want to give them a space and repair shop where they feel seen and heard. We are building an all-inclusive community. So often bikers are recognized by their leather and tattoos, we also want to give space to the bikers that wear their rainbows with pride, that strap their camping gear to their bikes to go wander in their hiking gear, the hippes, the women riders, the black, the yellow, the red...they are all welcome here! We have the knowledge, we have the vision, we just need the finances to make this the amazing space we know it can be. For us, for all the riders.

Self Identified Competition
We don't really feel we have any competition. Most bike shops are single-minded. Harley Davidson, which is right by us, only works on Harleys, and their wait time to get into their service department is up to 6 weeks. Rolf's is a local shop and he refuses to work on Harleys. We work on all makes and models and can have you in and out, even on a full engine rebuild, in less than 2 weeks. Please see the answer above.
