She Believes in Me (SBIM) is seeking government grant funding to support its initiatives focused on vulnerable children and families in the Herndon/Reston area. The organization has identified several key areas for funding:
1. **Food Pantry Rent**: SBIM needs to secure a dedicated space after managing with donated locations during the pandemic. Monthly rent is $3,000, totaling a minimum request of $36,000 for the year.
2. **Children’s Events**: The organization hosts monthly craft and coping skills events for over 600 families, providing snacks and drinks to the children attending.
3. **Food Pantry Supplies**: Donations sometimes fall short, making it essential for SBIM to maintain adequate food supplies to prevent families from going hungry.
4. **Craft Supplies**: Funding is also needed for craft materials, snacks, and water for the activities at children's events.
SBIM serves families facing significant challenges, including overcrowded living conditions and limited access to afterschool programs. Many children take on caregiving roles within their households due to parental absence. Founded in 2018 by a school counselor and a group of educators, SBIM initially focused on supporting young girls but has since expanded its mission to aid entire families.
With a volunteer-driven model, SBIM stands out in its community, supported by local businesses that recognize the positive impact it has. The organization operates without competition, instead fostering collaborative relationships. Approving this funding would help SBIM continue its vital work during a time when the need is greater than ever.

1. Food pantry/shop front rent - we managed donated spaces during the pandemic, but now we must pay for space. Rent is $3000 per month. $36k would be the minimum ask. 2. Monthly craft / coping skills events for children (we serve over 600 families in the Herndon/Reston area). We provide a snack and a drink for the children in attendance. 3. Food pantry stock items - sometimes donations from our generous sponsors are not enough. We can't afford to let families go hungry. 4. Craft and activity supplies, snacks and water for children activity events

Business Plan
We would prefer to see a reduction in our business. However, we have unfortunately received more families in distress this year. Who We Serve SBIM serves vulnerable children and their families who face a wide variety of challenges on a daily basis. Many lack space to call their own, with over half living in single family dwellings that house multiple family groups or non-relatives. The majority do not have the ability or financial opportunity to enroll in afterschool programs or extracurricular activities. Children often care for siblings or younger relatives in the absence of a parent or guardian. Who We Are SBIM is primarily a volunteer-run, dedicated group of volunteers who truly care and believe that together we have the power to change lives. SBIM was founded in 2018 by a school counselor and a group of teachers and social workers in Herndon, Virginia. These professionals recognized an urgent and growing need to provide support to young girls in the community, many of whom were suffering as a result of poverty and trauma. Through the years, we have realized there is a deeper need to help the girls’ whole family unit within the community. SBIM is a 501(c)(3) organization, EIN #83-1447190.
