Deb's notary signings | Application Preview
Deb's Notary Signings is seeking government grant funding to support two main initiatives: a paid internship program for middle and high school students and to invest in business coaching and resources for company growth.
The internship program aims to introduce students to the working world and entrepreneurial concepts. This initiative addresses a gap in the community, as there are limited opportunities for youth to engage in meaningful activities during school breaks. The project is positioned as a way to foster a sense of community and self-sustainability as the area undergoes redevelopment.
Deb emphasizes the importance of community and collaboration, believing in the "tribe" mentality that encourages collective support. She acknowledges the challenges faced by local communities but is committed to contributing positively to rebuilding efforts, despite the modest scale of her business.
In terms of competition, many notary service providers in the area have either ceased operations since the pandemic or have limited services. This situation has created a unique opportunity for Deb's business to fill the gaps in the market. Her competitive edge lies in her flexibility and extensive knowledge, which allows her to effectively cater to her clients' needs and provide clarity and comfort in their decision-making processes.

Business Plan
I see myself as being a very active part of western Massachusetts with my businesses. One part of it is a project that will further introduce entrepreneurship to middle and high school students as well as a being a paid internship. There really isn't any type of programs here for youth, especially during the summer or break time, for them to be active in or to explore potential possibilities for their future. Also, my community, during its redevelopment and revitalization will be and is in need of my other services and having such services will bring the tribe type community, making it more self sustainable, closer together. I'm a strong believe in the "tribe" mentality, as in the old saying "it takes a village..." nothing in life is an island and we're see that everyday with the status of many of our communities where there's flight when the slightest thing is wrong instead of fight. Fortunately, many communities ARE starting to fight to come back, one or more sources at a time, and I like to think I'm part of that, even though my businesses are small.

Self Identified Competition
I have found that on my notary side, a lot of businesses that use to offer such services prior to covid have either stopped offering such services; can only do certain documentations and not others; or in need of an appointment which isn't compatible as much of them are time sensitive. For the other entities of my business, some have voiced hesitation on the value verses their immediate need or things are placed on back burner, as this is also going on the availability of other similar businesses in my area. My area is underserved in many business aspects but it is working towards redevelopment abd bringing businesses and jobs back. Besides the flexibility that I am able to provide for customers, they find that I'm very knowledgeable in my business and insure that that they have full understanding of what they are doing and are comfortable with it. I also make every effort I can to meet their needs.
