Yahmo Excavation Inc. 92-1876893 | Government Grant Application

Yahmo Excavation Inc. | Application Preview

Yahmo Excavation Inc. is seeking government grants to support its growth and enhance community employment opportunities. The funding would allow the company to expand its fleet from one dump truck to two, facilitating the hiring of an additional driver.

The business has a robust growth plan, aiming to expand its fleet to four or five dump trucks within a year, each expected to generate over $100,000 per season. The company intends to hire additional office staff and move to a larger facility. Acquiring new dump trucks provides long-term value, as they plan to invest in reliable, newer models that will remain in service for up to ten years.

Yahmo Excavation Inc. was established to address the shortage of minority participation in the St. Louis, MO transportation sector, particularly in the hauling industry, which is experiencing high demand for the next several years. As a woman-owned certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), the company stands out in the area and is well-positioned to meet federal and state project minority participation requirements.

By participating in critical community projects such as road and building construction, the company contributes to local growth and aims to reduce unemployment by hiring from within the communities it serves. Additionally, Yahmo organizes community events to foster connections and promote its brand values.

While there is competition in hauling, the company views other businesses as partners rather than rivals, emphasizing collaboration over competition. Yahmo Excavation Inc. prides itself on its determination, strong values, and status as a woman-owned enterprise as key differentiators in the market.

  • Funding Usage

If Yahmo Excavation Inc. was chosen to receive this grant it would greatly assist in expanding our current fleet of one dump truck. With us being a small company currently, that is looking to expand quickly, this would be a tremendous jump start to enable us to purchase our second dump truck. This also means that this will assist us in expanding our current work force and hire a new driver as well to drive the dump truck.

  • Business Plan

Yahmo Excavation Inc is on a path of fast growth. In one year from now our company will have a fleet of four to five dump trucks, with each truck grossing more than $100,000 per season. We will have two or three additional office employees and looking to expand our current location to a privately owned facility. Yahmo Excavation Inc receiving this grant would also impact this business long-term in numerous ways. First it would provide funding to enable this company to continue a fast pace of growth by adding new dump trucks to our fleet, which will enable us to further help serve our community. These dump trucks that the company will be purchasing will add value to the company for many years to come. Typically, each dump truck that we purchase will be either a Mac Truck or a Kenworth that is no older than six or seven years old. These trucks will stay in our fleet from five to ten years, therefore adding value to the company for decades! Second, it will help this company to offer employment to those in our community by providing options for employment. They may be employed as a driver to work out in the field, or they may be employed as office personnel to work behind the scenes and keep the company moving. With either position this is something that you literally can't put a value on by helping individuals to put a roof over their heads and provide for their families! We started Yahmo Excavation Inc. hauling and excavation company to expand in the transportation industry in this field that was greatly starving for minority participation in our area. The hauling industry in the St. Louis, Mo region is a field that is "flooded" with work right now, with many projects projected to continue for 4 or 5 years until the projects' deadline. With this company being a woman owned, certified MBE through The Dept. of Equal Opportunity it defiantly sets us apart from the average hauling or excavation company in the central Missouri area. Based on our research, most federal and state funded projects have a minimum minority participation rate that they must meet, and in our area they have not been able to meet these standards for last few years. We knew this was a great time not only to enter this industry, but to thrive in it as well. In addition, Yahmo Excavation Inc. directly serves its neighboring communities by helping accelerate the growth of the community by assisting in the building of roads, buildings, airport runways, and many other construction projects. We also help to support the community by reducing the unemployment rate in such communities by hiring individuals directly from the communities in which we are serving. Therefore helping to provide income for those seeking employment. Yahmo Excavation Inc. also holds various community gathering functions to connect with the community. With such engagements like bar-be-que's and backpack giveaway's for the back to school season. This hopefully also spreads the Yahmo name and its values to the construction companies in the area.

  • Self Identified Competition

In this part of the transportation industry, hauling, there are many other hauling companies. However, these other companies are not looked at as competitors, but allies, due the fact that we need other companies/trucks in order to complete the various projects and meet their deadlines. So by teaming up with other companies, be it as brokers, prime contractors, or just fellow co-workers it creates an environment that promotes teamwork and not particularly competition. There are numerous characteristics that set us apart from other hauling and excavation companies in our area. One being our tenacity and intense focus on our goals that we have set and make sure our employees carry the same mindset. Another being our morals and values that we carry and uphold on any jobsite or project that we are involved in. Also, with this company being a woman owned company, a certified MBE through The Dept. of Equal Opportunity it defiantly sets us apart from the average hauling or excavation company in the central Missouri area. Based on our research, most federal and state funded projects have a minimum minority participation rate that they must meet, and in our area they have not been able to meet these standards for last few years.
