Nana’s Tamales New Mexico Foods 567975335 | Government Grant Application

Nana’s Tamales New Mexico Foods | Application Preview

Nana’s Tamales New Mexico Foods is seeking a $50,000 government grant to expand from a restaurant into a tamale factory. The funds will primarily be used for demolishing a wall at a cost of $10,000 and constructing an enclosed, sanitary room where workers can prepare tamales. This space will allow the public to observe the tamale-making process, enhancing customer engagement.

The business aims to lease the adjacent property to expand its operations, highlighting the necessity for a public restroom which is currently lacking. As the only tamale factory in Temecula, the owner emphasizes her commitment to providing authentic New Mexico-style tamales. She expresses a strong belief in the demand for this unique offering, rooted in her personal background and heritage, and her mission to uplift the community.

The owner is a passionate Latina woman, a mother of seven, and a survivor who draws inspiration from her family lineage, particularly her late grandmother and mother. She believes her unique story, combined with her expertise in New Mexico-style cuisine, sets her apart from any potential competition. The application underscores her dedication to social impact, aiming to support both her family and broader community initiatives as the business grows.

  • Funding Usage

I plan to expand my restaurant into a tamale factory. Tearing down wall alone is $10,000. Then building an enclosed sanitary room for tamale worker to spread tamales so the public can watch through window.

  • Business Plan

I plan on leasing next door in order to expand my business. Not having a public restroom hurts my business. I need an enclosed area for workers to make tamales where the public can watch them. I am the only tamale factory in town. I need to tear down the wall and city tells me this is $10,000 alone. I believe with all my heart that Temecula needs a New Mexico Style Tamale Factory, where folks will come from all over to eat the best tamales in town. We are expanding and a mission based company that not only resides in Temecula but is a Woman owned business, mother of 7, a sexual abuse survivor, in recovery. A Woman on a mission to feed and heal souls one tamale at a time. I need $50,000.

  • Self Identified Competition

I do not have competitors because no one wants the labor of making tamales. It’s my passion and a gift given to me from generations before me including my Nana and my Mom. New Mexico Style foods is what I specialize in. I’ve won many achievement awards and I’m very involved in charity work. But I need to grow in order to make money to give back. I am a Woman on a Mission to heal this world. I’m doing my part to uplift humanity one tamale, one soul, one conversation at a time with the best world famous tamales they’ve ever eaten. I am different because I am a sexual survivor who was given a gift of cooking. I am a Chile expert and I know New Mexico style foods. I come from long generations from Roswell, New Mexico. I am also a female owned, Latina, mother of 7 who started this company with no money, during COVID one day at a time. God opened these doors and my story is my story and what He has built He will prosper it. Both my Nana and Mom have passed away, both extraordinary Women who endured a lot of pain and sacrifices. So I do this for them and the Women who came before me and to pave the way for those who come after me. As a Woman in recovery we do Recover, and we can change this world one tamale at a time.
