Tornado Jag LLC G21000115866 | Government Grant Application

Tornado Jag LLC | Application Preview

Tornado Jag LLC is applying for government grants to fund Phase One of its business project, which aims to create an entertainment venue featuring an RC racetrack, a Robot Wars arena, and a smaller Hot Wheels area. The estimated total cost for this phase is around $25,000, which includes local rentals, equipment purchases, interior decoration, and other necessary expenses.

The business plans to generate income by operating play zones and selling related products on-site, anticipating a weekly visitor count of around 500. The ticket price is set competitively at $18. Future phases will expand offerings to include rental services for bicycles and Gokarts, as well as additional attractions like VR rooms and a kids' theater for plays and performances. Partnerships with local schools will help promote visits, particularly during morning hours, at discounted rates.

Marketing efforts will focus on social media, local advertising, and printed materials in both English and Spanish to reach the community. Tornado Jag LLC also aims to be community-oriented, contributing to local non-profits and schools, showcasing young talent, and creating a safe and welcoming environment for families.

The founder, Alex David, has a background in electronics engineering and journalism, alongside a personal motivation to create spaces for children’s entertainment based on his own experiences as a parent. Tornado Jag's unique concept finds a niche in the surrounding area, as there are no direct competitors offering similar RC car competitions or Robot Wars in Central Florida. The plan emphasizes innovation and adaptation to community needs, positioning itself to attract families seeking fun and affordable entertainment options.

  • Business Plan

Phase One of this project consists of an RC Racetrack, a Robot Wars Arena, and a smaller area for a Hot Wheels racetrack. These first zones of play will benefit from products that can be sold in the same location for a double source of income. Regardless of the definitive commercial address of Tornado Jag, our initial estimates, during phase one of development, predict a fluency of a minimum of 500 visitors every week, a modest number considering an attendance of around 1,000 people that other similar places see in a week. The proposed ticket price during phase 1 should be around $18.00 which is competitive with the cost of similar types of businesses in the surrounding areas. Our plan projects the development of a second and third phase that will add new attractions and other sources of income like the rental of bicycle Gokarts and push cars for toddlers for about $5 to $10 an hour plus protective gear sales. Articles like the robots for the War Arena will have prices depending on model and type. Besides, we propose the creation of a YouTube channel to promote our activities and attract more customers, which can generate additional income since it will be promoted also. Then there will be plays and shows that will run in the proposed kid’s theater that will be developed for the second phase. Additionally, our plan includes making agreements with schools and kindergartens in the area to promote visits to Tornado Jag at discounted prices, during morning hours. The sale of toys is part of our initial plan but we expect to generate a 30% income with the sale of robots for the Robot Wars Arena and rentals of Bicycle Gokarts, among safety items like helmets, protective gear, socks, and more. MARKETING Social Media is one of the most used tools for marketing and we plan on using it extensively by buying a Facebook ad page, creating a Twitter (X) account, and an Instagram account. We plan on placing ads on billboards in well-transited zones, where available. Printed media in English and Spanish is still a good source of promotion that we keep as a regular and cost-effective option. Besides, regular mail will be used for regular promotions for the contiguous neighborhoods around a 5-mile range. Local TV Stations are another marketing option and radio stations remain important for the community too COMMUNITY PRESENCE Part of our goal is to become a homely place that cares for the community and, as part of our promotions, we plan to contribute to several non-profit organizations and others like public school projects. Our theater may present a showcase for young talents so it may open a door for young artists. We shall contribute to nearby churches, fundraisers, and other organizations. LONG TERM Considering the effect of the pandemic around the world and watching the frequent closing of numerous businesses, we have learned that it is important to create a safe environment for people so they can feel confident and we will take every precaution to ensure that. Besides, we understand that it is important to keep ideas fresh in order to attract clients beyond the initial interest. That is why we plan to award competitors in the Robot War Arena, stream our competitions, and develop an email register to encourage visits as an incentive. This model has proven effective in creating retention of customers and frequency since it will offer special prices for those who refer new clients. In a matter of two years, our goal is to grow and bring other concepts like VR Rooms, playgrounds, arcades, and attractions that require higher funding. My name is Alex David. I was born in New York, NY, USA, 54 years ago. I was raised between New York, Quito-Ecuador, and Puerto Rico, acquiring a rich depth in culture and different views about life, learning, and hard work. I am happily married and we have a beautiful daughter who is still a kid and whom we love with all our hearts. I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering at Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, where I graduated in 1991. I obtained a second degree as a Journalist and went the way of Radio Hosting, News writing, and reporting for several radio stations, newspapers, local television channels, and the upcoming multi-media for the next 26 years. During my last years, I started developing the idea of having my own business related to entertainment for kids, based on my own experience with my daughter and the need for more spaces they could enjoy and the lack of them that I noticed in my surroundings and I started designing my first model of business, though the economy in Puerto Rico was causing hundreds of families to flee the island to other states of USA so my target clientele was getting scarce and financing sources were on recession. The destruction caused by Hurricane Maria terminated many job places, including mine which stopped my business dreams on its tracks. Now we, like many others, had to leave the island and start over. After years in Florida, we’ve done a lot of jobs to survive but kept on doing my new research to find a place for my maturing ideas. My goal has been devoting myself for years of study, analysis, and investigation to positioning in the lead of an idea that could be unique, fun, and rewarding with young people in mind, where communities are, but where this type of development is lacking. I'm motivated by the need for more places that are inexpensive, fun, and unforgettable. This is what impulses ideas like Tornado Jag, a place for teens, kids, and parents. Innovative, fun, and homely, Tornado Jag seeks to put together the technology of games and simple toys, like RC cars and robots, to create an atmosphere that achieves the goal of creating lasting memories.

  • Self Identified Competition

Close to where this proposal will be operating, by Casselberry City, there are different types of competition in the entertainment business, but not similar to our concept. The closer ones in a 3-mile radius are represented by Monkey Joe’s, Clown Fish Swimmers, and Double Down. Monkey Joe’s has several inflatables, one Birthday salon, a playground, and an arcade with an estimated more than 500 people visiting weekly. This is placed in the zone of Winter Park, about 10 to 15 minutes from Casselberry. Clown Fish Swimmers is located near Monkey Joe’s and consists of an indoor pool for swimming classes. Double Down is an Athletics center in Altamonte Springs, located about 15 minutes from Casselberry with the inclusion of some inflatables and one jumping bed more focused on offering athletic development for kids and groups. More to the East side, Oviedo city is notable for its Oviedo Mall which encloses several entertainment businesses like a cinema, a kid’s academy, and The District. This location offers an Arcade place, a live music area, a restaurant, and mini bowling. We consider Oviedo Mall a great prospect, given its family and kid-friendly businesses that allow for other types of ideas with that clientele in mind. Minding that Orlando is a tourist city, filled with themed parks and hotels, our concept will be developed not close, not far, and with a focus on surrounding communities that are less prone to the high expenses of the tourist zones but attractive enough to grow to the level of RC Racetracks competitions that thrive in other states and in Europe. Our purpose is to adapt to the offerings surrounding our concept to keep it innovative, attractive, unique, and different from others. All themed businesses mentioned above offer very different concepts to our proposal in its first phase which makes our concept more attractive since there's no space for RC car competitions or Robot Wars in the central Florida region but they attract hundreds of fans in northern states and in Europe. Our project has, in its field, not a direct competitor given that our offering is unique and targets zones of Orlando that are thriving in development, affluent, modern, and with accelerated growth which shows the potential of young families attracted to enjoy safe ways of fun.
