Valkyrie Mead LLC 86-1491831 | Government Grant Application

Valkyrie Mead LLC | Application Preview

Valkyrie Mead LLC is seeking government grants to expand its brewing operations significantly. The funding will be used to enhance the brewing capacity to triple production and to invest in reusable bottles and growlers for customer purchases.

The business aims to transition from a garage setup to a larger warehouse, enabling a more efficient brewing and bottling process. With only 13 existing meaderies in Oregon, the applicant highlights the growing popularity of mead and its potential as a profitable investment, contributing to Oregon's established microbrewing culture.

Valkyrie Mead's competitors include Batch One Brewing, Fringe Meadery, and The Oregon Mead & Cider Co. These businesses have diversified offerings and a history in brewing other beverages, while Valkyrie Mead focuses solely on mead production. The owner believes this singular dedication and passion for mead provides a competitive edge, positioning the business well in a burgeoning market. By being the first dedicated meadery in Oregon, Valkyrie Mead aims to capitalize on the rising interest in mead and establish itself as a key player in this niche.

  • Funding Usage

I plan on using my funding to increase my capacity in the brewing process to triple the amount of Mead brewed. I also plan on purchasing reusable bottles and/or growlers to be offered with each purchase and future purchases.

  • Business Plan

My plan is to move from my garage to a warehouse where I can have a larger scale brewing and bottling process. Oregon is home to one of the largest micro brewing communities in the US. There are but a handful of Meaderies in Oregon, 13 from what I was able to find. Meaderies are becoming more and more popular with Mead itself becoming more and more popular. Investing in a Meadery is a good move for Oregon, as I have the potential opportunity to make a successful Meadery in a booming market. Adding to Oregon’s rich micro brewing history.

  • Self Identified Competition

My three main competitors are; Batch One Brewing in Oregon City, Fringe Meadery in Portland, and The Oregon Mead & Cider Co. I was able to get the information off the Rate Beer Website (https://www.ratebeer.com/mead/oregon/37/213/). All three competitors seem to have one or more Meads that they make, along with Cider and/or Wine, for two of the companies. All three companies appear to have had a brewing process for something other than Mead beforehand, and only just started brewing Mead. All three companies are established Breweries or Wineries trying something new but without any passion in my opinion. I have only been brewing Mead and nothing else. I am different because I have a product that is different, right from the beginning. I am only focused on making Mead and nothing else. I am worth investing in because I want to be the first and only Meadery only making Mead in Oregon for the emerging and highly profitable craze behind Mead.
