Ultimate Sport Martial Arts Academy | Application Preview
Ultimate Sport Martial Arts Academy is seeking government grants to support its establishment and growth as a new business. The funds will be used for completing construction, marketing efforts, and hiring additional staff, all of which are essential to increase the academy's profitability. This profitability is critical for launching a non-profit organization that will provide free training to students and facilitate community outreach.
The business plan involves an initial pre-sales event aimed at acquiring 100 clients within three months, followed by a two-year strategy to grow the membership base to between 200 and 250 clients. With a spacious 6,000 square foot facility, the academy can offer more class options than competitors, catering to low-income families by maintaining affordable pricing. This pricing model is designed to attract families whose children may not fit into traditional sports or need after-school care, thus providing a valuable service while reducing childcare costs.
The academy emphasizes its unique ability to create significant, lasting impacts in the community. Unlike typical small businesses that focus on quick transactions, the martial arts school fosters a culture of respect, family, and perseverance, leading to long-term memberships and positive experiences for both children and their families.
Regarding competition, the academy believes it lacks true competitors in the area, as its pricing is substantially lower than others while offering comparable or superior services. The focus is on providing quality instruction at an accessible price, contrasting with businesses that prioritize profits, which can lead to high turnover and poorer service quality.
Ultimately, the academy's business model aims to ensure financial sustainability while remaining community-driven. Sufficient enrollment will allow for competitive wages for employees, facility improvements, community events, and funding for the proposed non-profit. The mission centers on delivering affordable, high-quality martial arts training, promoting fitness, confidence, and self-defense skills, and positively impacting the lives of community members.

Funding Usage
We are a new business, and establishing ourselves in our building, finishing construction, marketing our business to the community, and bringing on additional staff are crucial to help the business grow quick enough to raise profit levels to be able to start our non-profit organization for students who will receive free training, as well as community outreach. Martial Arts schools help the community by providing a service unlike any other sport, but to open a top of the line facility requires additional funds on top of what we have been spending.

Business Plan
Our growth plan starts with our pre-sales event which gets us from 0 clients to 100 clients within a 3 month period. Next we have a 2 year plan to continue to grow our clientele to around 200-250 members. We have a 6,000 sq ft facility which allows us to serve more class times and options than other schools, allowing us to grow fairly quickly. We also keep our pricing affordable, to help people who are low income afford an activity for their kids or themselves. So the more students we sign up, the lower our prices can be. Our plan counts on there being a need for activities such as martial arts for people whose kids don't fit in to other traditional sports, and families who need after-school care can sign up for affordable bus pickup and 5 day a week classes for their children, which allows them to save money they would have to pay for a babysitter or a more expensive pick up program. I believe that we offer something no other small business can: the ability to impact our community in a generational way. Most small businesses deal with sales and short interactions, that don't have a long lasting effect. Our martial arts school creates a culture of respect, family, confidence, perseverance, and helps kids who might find themselves not fitting in to other conventional sports or activities. We give people years of membership where they get to refer friends, their kids grow up and recognize that Martial Arts had a positive impact on their lives, and therefore sign up their own kids as well. We offer affordability to those struggling with the effects of inflation and the cost of kids activities rising, and give parents what they want: a People over Profit mindset. We fully believe our mission to give people affordable but quality martial arts training is crucial to help people grow with fitness, confidence, self defense skills and more.

Self Identified Competition
We believe we don't have any true competitors. We know our pricing and theirs, and we are far lower priced and save the customer hundreds if not thousands of dollars while still providing equal or greater services than those in our community. We strive to not throw anyone under the bus and call them out, but those who use a money-forward mindset tend to have worse instruction and worse turn-over rate where people quit because of the poor instruction or the high pricing. Our business model is simple: once we sign up enough students, we can pay our bills, pay our employees well, and have enough left over to make improvements to our facility, host community events, fund our non-profit which allows low income households to get training, and much more. We are not in this business to turn a huge profit, we want to do a service to our community, and impact as many lives as possible.
