Pyrotechnics by Encore dbd Encore Pyrotechnics 88-4214467 | Government Grant Application

Pyrotechnics by Encore dbd Encore Pyrotechnics | Application Preview

Pyrotechnics by Encore, under the ownership of Joey Taylor, is seeking government grants to support its operations and growth plans. The total funding request amounts to $463,447 for a Good Faith Loan balance and additional expenses related to equipment, including Cobra Electronic Firing Modules, custom-built firing trailers, and a company truck to improve hauling capacity. Moreover, the business is looking to purchase a permanent property for $856,523 to ensure adequate storage for its pyrotechnics equipment and comply with ATF regulations, as its current lease will expire in January 2025.

The business plan focuses on securing a permanent location that can accommodate current and future needs, given that recent growth has outpaced capacity limits. Encore Pyrotechnics has already begun hiring additional staff, including licensed pyrotechnicians and general laborers, and is actively working to expand its client base. The forecast includes a significant increase in revenue from existing accounts and potential contracts, with a particular focus on providing year-round services for major clients.

The applicant emphasizes its competitive edge in safety and efficiency, stating that prebuilding displays in-house reduces risks associated with on-site assembly. This approach not only ensures a higher success rate and less variable onsite but also focuses on maintaining safe distances during displays. With the pyro industry experiencing steady growth, Encore Pyrotechnics positions itself favorably for future expansion, leveraging its operational improvements and client relationships. The request for funding is justified through the promise of operational and financial stability, enabling the company to meet the increasing demands of its expanding client base while adhering to safety regulations.

  • Funding Usage

$463,447.00 – Balance due Good Faith Loan $ 30,000.00 – Additional Cobra Electronic Firing Modules, Remotes, Command Centers $ 50,000.00 – Additional custom built firing trailers for displays $ 70,000.00 – Company truck to haul firing trailers and product/equipment trailers to and from display locations. Currently using my personal truck which is 9 years old and has over 300k miles. A ¾ - 1 ton is required due to trailer sizes and weight according to Federal, State and local laws. $856,523.00 – Purchase permanent residence for the business. Current property is being leased and the lease expires January 2025. Property needs to be at least 20 acres for the current needs but also to accommodate further expansion based on the projected next 5 years of growth to meet all storage and operational distances in accordance with ATF – Federal Explosives Law & Regulations. Property can either be already developed with adequate shop and storage building to store all current equipment (currently due to limited space most equipment on hand is stored outdoors and exposed to all the elements shortening its lifespan) or property can be undeveloped, and we can build to suit not only current needs but with expansion and growth in mind. $ 30,000.00 – Specifically allocated for storage bunkers for Class B explosives (fireworks) in accordance with ATF – Federal Explosives Law & Regulations and Type-54 Licensing. The bunkers will not only service our current need for storage but will also be equipped to handle further growth and expansion as projected.

  • Business Plan

The plan is to purchase and/or build permanent residence for Encore Pyrotechnics with adequate storage for not only product but also for our firing equipment, ensuring the longevity of our equipment by protecting from natural elements and ensuring possible premature failures to be minimal, as well as keeping future costs of repairs and/or purchases to a minimum. Said purchase will also allow for the additional growth as I have already reached maximum capacity and outgrown the current property within the first year under my management. I have already hired 1 full-time office/sales worker (starting January 1, 2024) to assist with bookkeeping and secure additional clients for upcoming year(s). I am currently Interviewing for additional general laborers to assist with building displays, and setups. I am also looking to sign-on additional 4-8 Licensed Pyrotechnicians. Continue training and education for any interested in getting pyrotechnics licensing and/or annual recertifications and assist to obtain said licensing. Continue to maintain relationships with current clients and continue to build new relationships with new clients. I am also working towards getting Licensed myself with an Importer/Distribution license which will allow for lower cost on product and allow for me to keep costs down, which in turn can be passed along to clients. This will help ensure current and future clients as to yet another reason why to use Encore Pyrotechnics to preform their displays. Pyrotechnics by Encore LLC dba Encore Pyrotechnics was established and began operations January 1, 2023 under the sole ownership and management of myself, Joey Taylor, under contract of a Good Faith loan agreement of $550,000.00. Under that contract I acquired 2 – 10+year Pyrotechnics companies which had just recently merged (1 was Arkansas based and 1 Missouri based). All equipment, client and some already contracted accounts, 13 licensed pyrotechnicians, and limited inventory and supplies. I started with a $550,000.00 debt a $4,000.00 personal funds and approximately $54,000.00 in supplies and product. Since January 2023 I have been able to not only fulfill all contractual obligations that came with the business but have also gained many new and even larger client accounts. Most all clients have already increased their budgets for future displays and have signed 1-3 year contracts due to our ability to exceed their expectations and their desire to see what more we are capable of. In fact, my largest account, currently 1/3 of my revenue, owns dozens of entertainment properties, which I currently service 4 locally, has requested my services be provided year round on an additional property for the 2024 season. They have already verbally secured themselves to make sure I was available and able to handle what is yet to come this season. We meet in January 2024 to discuss each event price and sign contracts. Projected events to be held is 40 and based on past events that we have done there to see our work, the projected revenue will add an additional $250k at minimum per year. I have hired an additional 7 licensed pyrotechnicians and an additional 7 trainees/general laborers throughout the past year. I am currently leasing property for all operations of business and that lease expires January 2025. Even if I was able to secure additional time to the lease, I am currently at maximum capacity for just current accounts based on all ATF, State, and local laws and property restrictions. Which leaves no space for additional projected growth. If I was able to secure this funding it would allow for the purchase of a permanent location with the ability to grow at any pace. Taking into consideration not only the time to move all equipment, supplies, product, ect., but also time to get all the approvals, and inspections required due to the nature of the business with all the Federal, State, and Local Government involved in the process. It would also allow for a smooth transition while continuing to fulfill all existing client contracts and any additional new client/contracts coming. As the new year begins the calendar tends to fill in fast, with weddings, sporting events, concerts, holidays, etc. leaving little time to focus anywhere but each client and continue to meet the needs of each one, without moving the business having an impact on the clients. Nor do I wish to turn away business due to lack of time, equipment, general labor, or product to build displays, ect. In this business it is vital to be attentive to each clients needs but also to each and every detail of the display process. According to the American Pyrotechnics Association Pyrotechnics Displays and Commercial fireworks has progressively increased throughout the years in term of revenue generated per year, $262 Billion in 2022, and the state of Missouri coming in #1. Encore Pyrotechnics classifies under both categories. However minute the contribution, compared to others, we feel confident that this year and future years to come will just continue to increase as history has proven, not only as a whole but for Encore Pyrotechnics as well.

  • Self Identified Competition

Am Pyro Liberty Pyrotechnics Premier Pyrotechnics Pyrotechnics displays always carry a measure of concern for staff and public safety. At Encore Pyrotechnics we pride ourselves on assuming more of the risk involved in pyrotechnics displays by prebuilding most, if not all, of the displays at our own facility, from prewiring all custom-built shoot trailers to e-matching and securing all class C fireworks position. In the past, depending on size of displays, setup times could take days with on-site setup, adding greater staffing and public risk and additional costs for storage and staffing. Since all our prep work is done at our own facility, we decrease that risk for, not only the public and staff, but also our client’s safety. All of our displays are electronically fired ensuring safer distances for our Licensed Pyrotechnicians verses having any hand lit displays, as many others are still using that method of firing. We can proudly say that due to the way we have simplified our setups for displays we have maintained a 99% success rate without any failure. We have decreased public and personal safety concerns, and simplified the process for all parties involved. As it should be safety and simplicity are our main concerns behind the scenes of course. Our Pyrotechnicians have a passion for building and firing each display and I feel the less that can be done onsite the better for everyone. Onsite settings have enough variables without having to worry about unnecessary details.
