Criswell Farms LLC 176196393 | Government Grant Application

Criswell Farms LLC | Application Preview

Criswell Farms LLC, owned by Nicole Ball, is seeking government grants to expand and establish a permanent farming operation after facing challenges during the pandemic. The farm, opened just over a year ago, features 32 acres and a variety of livestock, including goats, pigs, chickens, and rabbits. Despite COVID-19 restrictions limiting planting to 10 acres, Nicole successfully sold produce to local food trucks and through a farm store, netting over $100,000.

Criswell Farms aims to preserve traditional farming practices while promoting community involvement through fun events like a pumpkin patch, a petting zoo, and educational experiences for local schools. Future plans include expanding the livestock population, producing goat milk products, and increasing vegetable production to support local charities. Nicole’s background in the restaurant industry has equipped her with diverse skills that she is leveraging for the success of the farm.

The farm differentiates itself from competitors like Townsend Farms, McKenzie Farms, and Moomaw Farms by focusing on creating memorable family experiences in addition to offering quality produce. With the funding, Nicole hopes to secure land ownership and grow the farm's capacity, ensuring its sustainability and community contributions for years to come.

Hi, my name is Nicole Ball. I am the owner of Criswell Farms. Criswell farms is not just your average farm. I opened my farm a little over a year ago. I have 8 goats, 3 which are due this february and 2 bottle babies, 3 pigs who are also due this april, 15 chickens and 3 rabbits which we will start breeding this spring that I raise along with 32 acres. This year due to covid and my income being restricted I was only able to plant about 10 acres of it. 5 acres of pumpkins and 1 acre of corn and the other 4 acres of a variety of different vegetables. 8 raised beds each 4x8 of strawberries, 6 beds of a variety of herbs. I was very successful this year, even during the covid 19 pandemic. Prior to the shut down and fires I had all my produce sold to the local food trucks for the whole season. Along with selling it in my farm store. We had a very successful pumpkin patch, and leased 10 acres of douglas firs to sell christmas trees at my farm store. I also had my petting zoo, christmas lights show and spooky forest, fun events for the whole family. We had local daycares and schools out here teaching the kids about the animals, bottle feeding the goats, picking fresh veggies along with my farm store where I sell fresh eggs, produce, jams, jellies, candles and goat milk soap all made fresh here on the farm. Our goal is to bring back the way things used to be. My goal is to expand our farm adding more goats for the end goal of making and producing goat milk, cheese, lotions and face wash. We as of right now are already producing goat soaps. I would also like to produce enough vegetables to not only continue selling at our farm store but also donate to local charities. This year we did not only overcome covid 19 but we survived the wind storms and fires that happened in september 2020. I was able to net over $100,000. I know that I could have done better if I had not lost so much produce and pumpkins due to the fires, smokes and storms. I learned alot this year and I know moving into next year I can be even more successful and give back to the community. I am a single mom of an amazing 16 year old boy I have raised on my own minus help from family. I have been in the restaurant and bar industry since I was 15 years old. I have done everything one could do in the industry from serving, cooking, bartending, managing, marketing, bookkeeping and more. I took all the experience I had acquired in all my years and put it into making a very successful farm. I am looking to get farm grants, and or loans so I can purchase my own farm and not be stuck in the unknown of renting. The farm I am currently at I was just informed after the $10,000s I put into it the owner wants it back although since I moved in I was told I could purchase it. I don't want to give up on my dream, and lose everything my family and I have worked so hard to create. You can see all the great things we have done on my website at www.criswellfarms.com or at our facebook at @criswellfarm2020. Thank you so much for your time and consideration Nicole Ball Criswell Farms LLC 971-335-9648

  • Business Plan

In the next 5 years I plan to have a farm of at least 20 acres. Our goal is to bring back the way things use to be. With this loan/grant we can expand our farm adding more goats for the end goal of making and producing goat milk, cheese, lotions and face wash. Goat milk is not only great for your skin but amazing for health especially folks with health issues. To sell not only on the farm store but to local stores with the goal to get into big grocery stores. We as of right now are already producing goat soaps, homeade jams, jellies and pickled products. We could also produce enough vegetables to not only continue selling at our farm store but also donate to local charities. Along with teaching kids and parents the importance of fresh produce and growing of the land. In time we will do farm to table meals, cooked on the farm and or boxed up to be cooked at home. All ingredients will be fresh from the farm. Hi, my name is Nicole Ball. I am the owner of Criswell Farms. Criswell farms is not just your average farm. I opened my farm a little over a year ago.
