Mission Grove Medical, dba AFC Urgent Care 47-2589294 | Government Grant Application

Mission Grove Medical, dba AFC Urgent Care | Application Preview

Mission Grove Medical, operating as AFC Urgent Care, is seeking government grants to enhance their services and support their community. The funding will be used to purchase a mobile x-ray machine, which will enable the clinic to offer x-ray services that they are already authorized to provide. Additionally, they plan to introduce and market cash-based services, such as weight loss programs and infusion services, which tend to be more profitable than those covered by government insurance.

The expansion plan involves adding new services, which will not only improve patient care but also allow the clinic to open a new location. This growth is projected to create 20 new entry-level and professional jobs and help meet the healthcare needs of more individuals in the area.

As a minority- and woman-owned business, the owner brings a unique perspective, having immigrated from Africa 25 years ago as a single mother. She worked hard to become a nurse while pursuing a doctoral degree, dedicating her life to helping those in need. The clinic predominantly serves low-income families, offering affordable healthcare options and operating as a training facility for various medical education programs.

In terms of competition, the clinic faces two urgent care centers within a five-mile radius, one being a large corporation focused on employer services and the other a multi-location company that does not accept government insurance. Mission Grove Medical distinguishes itself by accepting government insurance plans, which attracts patients from considerable distances, including a large number of low-income individuals. The clinic prides itself on providing compassionate, personalized care to all patients, regardless of their background, ensuring that no one is turned away.

  • Funding Usage

I would like to buy a mobile xray machine to be able to add that service. We are already authorized to do them, just lacking the machine. I would also like to add and market some addition cash based services such as weight loss programs and infusion services. These are much more profitable than Government Insurance.

  • Business Plan

By adding additional services we should be able to grow enough to add an additional location. That would add 20 entry level and professional level jobs and also help more people with their healthcare needs. This is both a minority and woman owned business. I immigrated here legally from Africa 25 years ago with my 4 children. As a Single Mom, I went to night school to become a nurse. Then worked as an RN while putting myself through a doctorate level education. My life revolves around helping people. As such we primarily help low income families that need good healthcare at an affordable price. We are also a training facility for Medical assistant schools, nursing schools, nurse practitioner schools and also medical students seeking DNP level degrees.

  • Self Identified Competition

There are only 2 urgent cares within a 5 mile radius of our location. One is Concentra. They are a nationwide corporation with 710 locations focusing primarily on workers comp and employer medical services. The other is SoCal Emergency Medical. Their location is similar in size to our location however this company has a total of 6 locations throughout Southern California and doesn’t accept Government insurance. We are one of the few urgent care clinics that accept government insurance. We have patients that come from as far away as 40 miles just come to our clinic because we accept IEHP and Molina insurance. As such, we take in a lot of low income patients at a cost to us. There is a reason others don’t take government insurance, there is no money in it. We don’t want to stop helping all these people. Our patients are extremely satisfied and love our providers. There are few Doctors that care as much about their patients then us. Being a solely owned urgent care we can give more specialized care and more attention to each patient. It doesn’t matter if they are an attorney, Athlete or executive or a single mom on welfare or an immigrant that doesn’t speak English, we treat everyone with the same outstanding care and compassion that every human deserves. No one is turned away.
