For the Love of Lulu West Michigan Bulldog rescue | Application Preview
For the Love of Lulu West Michigan Bulldog Rescue is seeking government grants to support its daily operations and ongoing renovation of a facility aimed at expanding its capacity to assist at-risk dogs from local shelters. The organization plans to add eight new indoor kennels to its existing building, which will significantly alleviate the pressure on overcrowded shelters in Michigan.
Currently, the rescue is also establishing an in-house training program that will extend into the community, promoting responsible dog ownership and enhancing the adoptability of the dogs they care for. In addition, the organization has acquired additional land to further increase its capacity for housing shelter dogs until they can be adopted.
The rescue has a strong track record over seven years, consistently demonstrating its commitment to saving dogs by doubling the number of animals taken in each year. Their initiatives include rescuing strays, accepting owner surrenders, and providing education to the community to ensure dogs remain with their families whenever possible.
What sets this rescue apart from others is its home-based approach, where the founder utilizes personal property for housing, training, and veterinary care. Unlike many rescues that rely on foster homes, this organization maintains direct oversight and care for the dogs, enhancing their chances for successful adoption. The application underscores the importance of funding to continue their vital work and expand their facilities to serve even more dogs in need.

Funding Usage
The funding will be used for everyday expenses of running a rescue. We have no administration expenses as I still work fulltime. We are currently renovating our 16x24 building to include 8 more kennels to provide relief for Michigan shelters by taking in at risk dogs.

Business Plan
We are currently renovating an empty building at the rescue to add 8 more indoor kennels to provide relief for dogs in shelters who are at risk. We have started an inhouse train program and plan on carrying that out into the community. We are also looking at surrounding property to grow the rescue, to provide more housing for shelter dogs until adoption. We recently purchased 12 more lots connected to the rescue property. We have proven over the last 7 years that we are committed to saving as many dogs as possible. We have continued to grow with hard work and dedication. Every year since we opened, we have doubled the number of dogs we have received from shelters, strays and owner surrenders. Our commitment is to continue to relieve shelters that are overflowing, we continue to pull strays off the street, we continue to take owner surrenders so the dog doesn't end up as high risk at a shelter. We have continued to educate ourselves so we can better understand every situation that dogs come from and how to address their needs. We continue to reach out to the community to educate, with the hope their dog can stay in the family.

Self Identified Competition
There are no competitors in rescue, we all have the same goals. The only difference between my rescue and other rescues is, I am home based, I have dedicated my own property to house the dogs, train the dogs and vet the dogs before adoption. Most rescues are foster based.
