Honey Done's, LLC | Application Preview
Honey Done's, LLC is seeking government grants to support their technology-driven grocery assistance platform. The funding will help hire two operations staff members, five developers, and cover AWS hosting expenses.
The business model involves a free website for customers to find products, paired with a subscription-based portal for stores. This portal provides near real-time data on product availability, alerting managers to understocked or out-of-stock items. Initially, Honey Done's will conduct full store scans, providing additional scans as needed, with future plans to enable stores to perform their own scans, streamlining the onboarding process.
The service aims to enhance the shopping experience by allowing users to scan a QR code at the store entrance, input items they need, and receive a detailed store floor plan. Customers can view the precise location of items within aisles, making it easier to navigate large stores. The system prioritizes user privacy, ensuring that shopping habits remain anonymous while providing up-to-date aisle information without manual data entry.
While competitors include large chain store apps and smart glasses, Honey Done's stands out by using Lidar and AI to maintain accurate inventory data with no need for manual updates. This innovation ensures efficient inventory management and enhanced customer satisfaction. The funding will enable them to expand their offerings from grocery stores to other retail sectors, including books, clothing, and home improvement, positioning the business for significant growth.

Business Plan
While the website is free to locate items, there is a paid portal for stores (license per store location) to access the near realtime data we collect on their shelves every time a user finds a product. This will allow store managers to get alerts when there are signs of understocked/out-of-stock items. We can bring on a new store by doing a full scan (about 30 minutes) by our staff. Stores can purchase additional full store scans. Eventually, we will upgrade to allow stores to do this on their own to allow new stores to be added without our need to travel to the location. We will expand from grocery, to books, clothing, home improvement, and more. Each line will have a different domain so the business line can be sold without selling the whole business. Have you ever needed to pick something up from the grocery store you don’t know well in a hurry? The aisle signs help, but where in the 100 feet of shelves is the item you need? What if it is in a group of similar items like soup cans or spice containers? Our website will allow you to scan a QR code at the store entrance, enter the item(s) you need. Then, you will see a store floor plan to the aisle(s) you need. When you get to the aisle, your phone uses its camera to show you where in the aisle the item(s) is located. Upload a full grocery list and the site will plot the most efficient path and help you find each item. Since the application does not know who you are, your shopping habits are anonymous. Since the site updates aisle information with each item located, the data stays current. A smartphone (or tablet) only needs a camera and a network connection to function. Since the information is updated automatically, stores no longer have to manually enter aisle information for each item. Since the site knows what should be in each location, it knows when empty shelves are happening to keep inventory full and sales boosted.

Self Identified Competition
Large chain stores have applications that tell shoppers what aisle an item is stored in, but not its location in the aisle. Smart glasses can look at an item and tell you about it, But it cannot locate the item since that information changes so frequently. The applications for large chain stores require manual data entry to stay current. They are also limited to general aisle (at best, aisle section) but not where on the shelf an item is located. Our solution will use Lidar and AI to parse images and keep our data current. No manual data entry, just pictures of what exists.
