More Than Wheels LLC More Than Wheels LLC | Government Grant Application

More Than Wheels LLC | Application Preview

More Than Wheels LLC is seeking government grants to support its mission of promoting adaptive sports for individuals with disabilities, particularly veterans and athletes. The funding will be utilized for several essential purposes: purchasing dedicated vans for business use, enhancing employee capacity through hiring and training, and acquiring adaptive sports equipment like off-road handcycles. Additionally, funds will cover maintenance and operational costs, including travel expenses for tours.

The organization has a clear five-year growth plan centered on three main goals. Firstly, they aim to continue their tour initiative, which brings adaptive sports equipment directly to disabled veterans and athletes who lack transportation. Secondly, they prioritize ongoing communication through social media to maintain connections with past clients and attract new participants. Lastly, the team's unique perspective—comprised entirely of individuals with disabilities—creates a relatable and inspiring environment, fostering growth through mentorship and education.

The rationale for securing funding emphasizes the positive impact on veterans and adaptive athletes, highlighting the reassurance that investors and grant providers would feel knowing they are supporting a cause that restores hope and facilitates growth in individuals facing challenges.

More Than Wheels faces competition from organizations like AAWS, Ability 360, and New Horizons, each offering different adaptive sports resources. However, their competitive edge lies in their touring model, which allows them to engage directly with communities by providing on-site access to adaptive equipment and fostering an enthusiastic, inclusive atmosphere. This approach not only combats feelings of isolation among participants but also actively encourages them to explore new opportunities in adaptive sports.

  • Business Plan

More Than Wheels five year goal for business growth is simple. 1) Continue to tour. Bringing adaptive equipment to Disabled Veterans and Athletes who otherwise do not have access or means of transportation to such equipment. This puts us a step ahead of our competition. 2) Continual communication. The promoting of our Clinics on social media platforms allows us to stay in contact with previous clients as well as find new clients to join. 3) Provide the human experience. Everyone here at More Than Wheels has a disability. This is huge in relating to and helping our clients to grow. Nothing inspires more than a peer who has been in the shoes of the individual in need of growth. Mentoring and educating persons with disabilities takes a person with disabilities. This is what is going to make our business thrive. Relationships build businesses. Investors, private funding organizations, grant writers and funding administrators would rest easy at night knowing they have provided funds to an organization that promotes Veterans and Adaptive Athletes alike to learn, grow and thrive in an environment of people with disabilities who no longer feel unable to do so. Knowing they have helped to support people who help people. Sleeping tight is just one benefit of helping More Than Wheels. Knowing we are seeking those who have lost hope, and restoring that hope through Education, Mentorship and Adaptive sports!

  • Self Identified Competition

Our top 3 competitors are AAWS Arizona Adaptive Water Sports an organization that provides education and use of adaptive water sports equipment. Ability 360 an adaptive gym that provides a stationary place for use of adaptive equipment. New Horizons an adaptive gym that provides some adaptive sports and weight training equipment as well as transportation needs. Touring is what makes More Than Wheels different from our competitors. Touring is scheduling clinics across the state. Then which we travel to the cities and towns scheduled, bringing adaptive sports equipment and trained employees and volunteers. Time and place for use of such equipment with individuals planned accordingly. This usually includes lunch, being an all day or multi day event. Many individuals with disabilities struggle with depression and this can be depleting of energy and willingness to try new things. Knowing this first hand, More Than Wheels meets individuals where they are, eliminating excuses! Arriving excited to show others what we love to do, knowing they are going to love it as well is what separates us from the competition!
