VooDoo Cheer | Application Preview
VooDoo Cheer is applying for a government grant to enhance its gym facilities and provide better training equipment for its athletes. The funding will be utilized to purchase key items such as a tumble tramp, mats, spotting blocks, and additional spring floor panels, totaling approximately $13,148.94 before tax. This new equipment will significantly improve the training environment, allowing athletes to practice safely and learn new skills more effectively.
In terms of business growth, VooDoo Cheer plans to engage more with the local community by participating in events like homecoming parades and local festivals, as well as sponsoring well-attended activities like rodeos and mud runs. The business is also focused on improving its online presence through social media and website development, creating a loyalty program for members, and promoting itself through targeted marketing materials. Hosting birthday parties at the gym is another strategy to attract new clientele and create a welcoming atmosphere.
VooDoo Cheer emphasizes its commitment to creating a positive and supportive environment for its athletes, serving as a second home for them. The business aims to differentiate itself from competitors by fostering a fun and encouraging atmosphere, as opposed to the more rigid and competitive environment observed at other local gyms. The owner’s determination and personal commitment to providing excellent customer service and building strong relationships with athletes are highlighted as key reasons for potential investors to support the business.
In summary, VooDoo Cheer aims to secure funding to better equip its gym and expand its offerings, while positioning itself as a more compassionate and inclusive alternative to current competitors.

Funding Usage
I would use this grant to be able to better equip my gym. Right now I have the very bare minimum and it’s hard to train my athletes without the aid of better equipment. This equipment will allow athletes to complete tumbling drills safely, and help them learn new skills. The equipment listed is not everything needed to fully equip the gym, but it will do almost everything I need to do starting out. Equipment needed: Tumble Tramp $3,595.00 +tax Resi mat $2,500+tax Spotting block $553.00+tax 2 more panels of spring floor to complete a full floor (roughly $3000.00) 2 rolls of carpet bonded foam 2” to go over the floor $797.97+tax (each roll) 2 Strips of Velcro $35.00+tax (each) Back handspring mat $520.00+tax Springboard $879.00+tax Floor border $436.00+tax The total for all of these things comes to $13,148.94 without tax. After furnishing my gym further with the items listed above, I would pay rent in advance.

Business Plan
My plan to grow my business in the next 5 years is to engage with the community more! Due to Covid-19 that has been really hard to do however, with the vaccine and starting to get back to a little bit of normalcy I think it’s going to be easier to really get out! Warrensburg is a college town so luckily, there are a ton of community events! For example: Homecoming parade Get the red out Old Drum days (fall festival) I also plan on sponsoring at our county rodeo, truck and tractor pull, and mud run! These events are always well attended! At the rodeo I can sponsor a bucking gate and every time they use that gate, they will announce your name and tell the attendee’s more about your business! Alongside these, I will be actively promoting our social media platforms! We have branched out on several, and are continuing to grow! We are working on our website now, finishing up the process before we can go live with that. Create a loyalty plan that will enable us reward our consistent members especially those that registered as a family or group Print out fliers and business cards and strategically drop them in sport centers, stadiums, offices, libraries, public facilities and train stations. After gaining more equipment, we will start to have birthday parties hosted at the gym! This gets others in the door as well as being able to run around and have a good time in the gym. Above all, we will be providing good customer service! Word of mouth is the greatest way to spread a business name. If we have a good reputation and our current customers tell others their positive experience, others will be inclined to come! Investors should invest in VooDoo Cheer and myself because I am young and determined. I have a plan to be successful and I am going to ensure that it happens. I am not one to give up, and this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I am working to create a safe place and a second home for my athletes. I want my place of work to hold memories that last a lifetime for all of my athletes. Somewhere that holds some of the greatest accomplishments of their youth and teen years. I am working to make VooDoo Cheer become a place that my athletes can’t wait to come to because they can escape from the pressures of school, home life, bullies, and any other issues they need a break from. This will be a safe place for my athletes, and we will help them work through any issues if and when the time arises. We will be a second family, or a first family if needed. I am here for my athletes!

Self Identified Competition
My first competitor is Twisters Sports, they have been in business for about 8 years and they were pretty successful in their years. Twisters has lost a lot of their athletes due to “sucking the fun out of cheer.” Girls that I coached when they were little girls are now older and quitting because the coaches are mean and they don’t allow them to have fun at practice like they used to. It’s really upsetting hearing that these girls who have grown to be incredible athletes are quitting because of coaches. I understand that this happens in every sport however, I’d like to stop this in Warrensburg and surrounding areas. I know that it won’t make a huge difference in the industry world wide, but it will make a difference in my athletes here. The next competitor would be Xtreme Cheer and Tumbling, they are about 45 minutes away, but they used to draw a lot of athletes because they went to a big competition about 4 years ago, but have not been back since. I have been an athlete, and coached there previously, and they are wonderful people! They have a slight downfall on tumbling. There’s a lot of things that make me different from my competitors. Twisters has been the only gym in my town for a couple years now, and people go there because they are close; however, they turn athletes away if they’ve taken a tumbling class at another gym, or if they have siblings that go to another gym. I have experienced this first hand. We strive to make every athlete that walks through our doors feel welcome and gain better skills, no matter the circumstance. It doesn’t matter who you are, if you want to take a class at VooDoo Cheer, then let's get tumbling! Xtreme Cheer and Tumbling, like I said is filled with great people however, they have a downfall in teaching tumbling. Their athletes go to other gyms to gain new tumbling skills. Xtreme pushes a lot of team goals, and stunting rather than individual goals. That’s where I’m a little different, I like to push my athletes to reach their individual goals, all while pushing them to hit the team goals as well. Athletes feel a great sense of accomplishment when they learn and can perform a new tumbling skill, and those accomplishments make coaching all worthwhile.
