Rose & Thorns Inc. | Application Preview
Rose & Thorns Inc. is seeking government grants to support the launch of nine new syrup flavors by the end of 2022, covering expenses such as lab fees, packaging, and marketing. The company plans to establish itself in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, leveraging the founder's ten years of industry experience to build relationships with local restaurant owners. In the initial three months, free product samples will be distributed for test marketing, with the goal of supplying over 30 coffee shops, bakeries, and bars in Oklahoma with both traditional and innovative syrups.
The founders are passionate about fostering small business growth within Oklahoma and have already invested significant resources in lab testing and necessary paperwork. They aim to provide high-quality syrups that will support the local hospitality industry as it recovers.
Rose & Thorns Inc. stands out from competitors like Libby & Co, Pink House Alchemy, and Monin by offering syrups free from artificial coloring and preservatives. Their unique packaging—a glass flask reminiscent of pre-prohibition styles—distinguishes their product in a crowded market. By including a QR code on each bottle that links to recipes from local bartenders, the company fosters community engagement and showcases local talent, further enhancing its appeal as a locally-focused brand.

Business Plan
Our business will start in Oklahoma City & Tulsa. I've been in the industry for over ten years. This will allow us the chance to create relationship with restaurant owners and give them product to try. In our first 3 months we will give out free product to get our brand out there(test marketing). We will grow our business by being a local (Oklahoma) syrup company that will provide 30 + coffee shops, bakeries and bars with syrups they need to support this state and small businesses. We'll start with traditional syrups like grenadine, vanilla, caramel and hazelnut then on to other exciting flavors that fit our quality. We're striving to grow small business in the state of Oklahoma. My business partner and I aren't just doing this for profit - our hearts are in this. We've spent thousands already on lab test and state/local paperwork and we will continue because this isn't a job for us, it's a passion. Our goal is to provide a quality syrup as the market (hospitality) bounces back. We weren't just there - we were a part of the impact and we want to be part of its growth.

Self Identified Competition
Libby & Co is a syrup company out of Texas. Pink House Alchemy is in Arkansas & Monin is operating domestic and outside of the country. Our syrups aren't just relevant flavor profiles - they're without food coloring and alcohol based preservatives. Our goal extends beyond making incredible syrups. We want to sell 'original' in the style of timeliness and originality. Our bottle (unlike our competitors) is a glass flask: a tribute to early bartenders pre-prohibition. Our label displays quality and an old style, equivalent to a bottle of Angostura bitters. Unlike our competitors - we invested in a nice quality glass & not the cheap and overused 500ml, round bottle that proliferates the market of syrups. We're different. Our syrups are rich and pair with local recipes created by employees in the state of Oklahoma. We display a QR code on all of our bottles that allows Oklahomans to see recipes created by their favorite local bartenders and friends. We're local, familiar and even better.
