D&J's Frozen Custard (YellowFin Properties LLC) 93-3659592 | Government Grant Application

D&J's Frozen Custard (YellowFin Properties LLC) | Application Preview

D&J's Frozen Custard, operated by YellowFin Properties LLC, is seeking government grants to support their 10% down payment for an SBA loan. This funding will bridge the gap, allowing them to open their business sooner by reducing the time needed for saving up the remaining amount. The loan will facilitate the purchase of property and equipment from current owners.

Their business plan emphasizes community engagement through grassroots marketing and participation in local events, which they believe will enhance brand recognition and ultimately double their income over time. The founders, drawing from mentorship by seasoned local business owners, understand the nuances of maintaining long-term success and are committed to making wise business choices. They view their venture as a means to create a family legacy while contributing positively to the community by generating jobs and spreading joy through their products.

They recognize competition from established businesses such as White Cottage, Baskin Robbins, and Culvers, all within close proximity and having operated for over ten years. To differentiate themselves, D&J's Frozen Custard plans to leverage a strategy founded on community involvement, a unique proprietary blend of frozen custard from Prairie Farms, and a shop ambiance that reflects local culture. This combination aims to make them the top choice for cold treats in their area.

  • Funding Usage

Funding will go to complete the 10% down payment requirement for the SBA loan we are applying for with our banking institution. We have the majority of the down payment saved from personal income and asset selling. However, if we receive a grant, it will allow us to move forward with the loan to open our business sooner vs a year or so down the line from saving. The SBA loan will be purchasing the property and equipment from the current owners.

  • Business Plan

Through grassroots marketing, we will be involved in our local community events. Word of mouth and brand recognition will double our business income over the years. How do companies do so well for decades vs flopping in the first 2 years? To answer this, the patterns of both need to be evaluated. How would we outshine the competition and grow as a company? We have been mentored by a couple who have owned and operated a local donut cafe for over 2 decades, as well as a different couple who also operated an ice cream shop for over a decade. We (my husband and I) have seen the consistent patterns of what creates success, how to be wise with business choices, and what the consequences are if poor judgment is acted on in business. D&J's Frozen Custard is the start of a family legacy. We are going to be a part of what makes America a great place to live; operating your own business while creating jobs and skills. Serving your community to grow for the benefit of everyone; all while serving delicious treats producing joy in each cup sold!

  • Self Identified Competition

White Cottage- serves frozen custard (Closed over winter season) Baskin Robins- serves ice cream Culvers- serves Frozen Custard All Three of these storefronts are located within 10 miles of where D&J's Frozen Custard will be located and have been in business for over a decade. We intend to follow the blueprint of the patterns that made the sellers successful for 20 years of operation: -Being involved in the local community, school events, and club events -Our proprietary blend will be supplied by Prairie Farms, while competitors are getting their mix through Meadowvale. While both blends are good in taste, our flavor will stand out from the rest. -Our ambiance/theme will be centered around the hometown we are located in. Triggering connections to be built, making our shop to come to mind first when considering where to get a cold treat in the local area.
