Rent To Grow | Application Preview
Rent To Grow is applying for government grants to fund the purchase of essential capital equipment, including a wood chipper, log splitter, lawn aerator, tiller, slice seeder, stump grinder, and sod cutter. The business aims to tap into the do-it-yourself community by leveraging expertise in each piece of equipment, prioritizing customer service and experience. The plan emphasizes assisting customers with their projects, demonstrating how to use the machines, and working closely with landscape and development professionals to foster mutual growth.
The application highlights a successful track record, noting growth from $80,000 to over $400,000 in rental revenues within five years. The business believes it offers a unique customer interaction that sets it apart from competitors, which include larger equipment rental firms and established lumber stores.
Rent To Grow's competitive advantage lies in its exceptional customer service and deep community ties, developed over two decades of local experience. Their strategic location on North Main Street, near a new Cumberland Farms store, positions them as the sole standalone rental store in the area, allowing them to fill a significant market gap. The combination of community connections and commitment to customer satisfaction supports their case for funding approval.

Business Plan
Capturing the do it yourself community is simple with a working knowledge of each machine. Customer service and experience is the top priority. Help the customers with their projects, understand the tools they need, explain how to run the machines. Be excited with them to help them accomplish the job on their own. We are also working with a number of strategic landscape and development people to help each others businesses grow. We grew a rental department from 80,000 per year to over 400,000 per year in a matter of five years. I have a demonstrated track record of starting and growing businesses. No one else will do it quite like we will. Customer interaction, experience and service is core.

Self Identified Competition
In town we have Milton Rents, they do large scale equipment as a primary focus. We have Koopman Lumber’s rental department that I ran for over twenty years. They are one department in a large hardware and lumber store. Other than that, there is no stand alone rental store and the next closest rental is Home Depot or United, a twenty minute drive each way from us. Our customer service. Every customer, every time. I ran the local store with a rental department for twenty years. I can’t go to the grocery store, get gas, or stop in the local coffee shop with out seeing some one I know. I am part of the community. Our location sets us apart. On North Main Street in town, across from a new Cumberland Farms store. We will be the only stand alone rental store of its kind in the area.
