Point Health Ministries, LLC | Application Preview
Point Health Ministries, LLC is seeking funding to acquire a handicap accessible van to better serve clients who use wheelchairs. The current challenges of transporting multiple clients in a standard SUV create difficulties, particularly on days when their mobility is limited. The van would enhance the ability to take clients into the community, fostering their social engagement.
The business aims to support families caring for loved ones with severe disabilities, allowing them to stay in their homes longer. By doing so, it seeks to promote mental health, particularly for those diagnosed with Dementia, as remaining in a familiar environment can slow disease progression and reduce reliance on medication.
Point Health Ministries distinguishes itself from competitors by offering flexible service without requiring a minimum number of hours per visit. While other agencies mandate a minimum of four hours, this agency can accommodate one-hour visits to address immediate needs. The approach emphasizes client participation in daily activities, promoting independence and engagement.
Overall, the funding is sought not just for transportation, but as a means to enhance community involvement and the quality of life for clients and their families. The goal is to enable clients to participate in activities and social events they enjoy, thereby improving their overall well-being.

Funding Usage
I am looking to purchase a handicap accessible van. I have several clients that use wheel chairs and can transfer into a vehicle most of the time. They sometimes have bad days and cannot get into a regular vehicle. There have been a several times where I have taken more than one client with a wheelchair and it is very difficult to get the wheel chairs and the clients in my SUV. My clients reside in their home and a handicap accessible van would allow me to be able to get them out into the community even when they are having bad days with mobility.

Business Plan
I would like to be able to help families that have loved ones with more severe disabilities stay in their own home longer. My goal is to help families, especially couples stay together in their own home and still be able to participate in their community. This helps their mental health by being able to stay in their own home, especially those who have been diagnosed with a form of Dementia. Changing their environment tends to accelerate the disease process. If they can stay in their own home, there will be less depression and they will take less medication and may be able to live out their life in their own home and not put a burden on the state to pay for their stay in a nursing home.

Self Identified Competition
I am the only home health agency in my area that is private pay and does not require a minimum of needed hours. All of the home health agencies in my area require at least four hours minimum. I will do one hour visits. Sometimes all families need is someone to help get a loved one up or put them to bed, take them to the restroom or help with repositioning. I am different in that I do not have a minimum of required hours per visit. My background is activities and I try to make everything I do with them into an activity. I also do not believe in doing everything for them. I try to get them to help as much as possible, even if it means it will take almost an hour to get up and get dressed. My soul purpose for my business is to help my clients continue to live their lives as they have but in a modified form which includes shopping, going out to eat, going to visit family and friend, going to class reunions, going to church or community events, out to the movies, to the zoo, or even to an Ohio State Football Game.
