  • Funding Usage

I would use the funding to install an all-seasons greenhouse to mitigate loss due to weather. I would also use the funding to purchase more stock, invest in online sale capability program, and launch my venture to obtain programs & materials needed for landscaping design.

  • Business Plan

Within the next 5 years, I am hoping to purchase a plot of land to open a plant nursery that is brick and mortar. Within this location, the goal is to host classes on soil health, repotting, plant health, plant identification, etc. My goal is within 5 years to grow to a point of hiring at least 3-5 full time employees and to bring jobs to the area. I also want to incorporate classes for school aged kids to teach them the science and chemistry behind plants and how they grow. I have over 30 years of experience and knowledge when it comes to houseplants, crops, herbs, etc. With the help of investors, I plan to turn this dream into a booming business and bring jobs to the state. Knowledge is only power when it is applied. I plan to use my knowledge to empower my community and bring money and happiness to our state.

  • Self Identified Competition

Top 3 competitors would be big box stores, i.e. Lowe's, Home Depot, and Walmart. While these stores do sometimes get in decent plants, and even some on the uncommon or rare side; they are often riddled with pests like mealey bugs, thrips, spider mites, etc. These same garden centers do not follow proper care for the plants at hand. So, while cheaper and streamlined, the plants are often infested or sick. Some of which, can infect an entire household. As mentioned, my competitors do not follow proper care guidelines. They also fail repeatedly at quarantining infected and infested plants. Thus causing consumers to infect or infest their homes. All of my plants are inspected weekly, if not daily. They are treated with proper prevention for pests and disease. Each of my plants are meticulously cared for based on their individual needs from light to soil to water type. No big box store could ever care for their garden center the way my smaller boutique nursery can.
