Pawsitive Principles Academy, LLC | Application Preview
Pawsitive Principles Academy, LLC is applying for government grants to support their growth and enhance community services. The funding will facilitate a move to a larger facility to accommodate their expanding clientele and diversify their offerings. Key areas for development include:
1. **Dog Behavior Support**: Helping individuals with dog behavioral challenges to reduce rehoming and strengthen human-canine bonds.
2. **Service Dog Training**: Expanding their affordable service dog training program for disabled individuals, whether through owner-trained or certified trainers.
3. **Shelter Dog Training**: Training shelter dogs with behavioral issues to improve their adoption prospects.
4. **Therapy Support for Special Needs**: Providing therapy-trained dogs for emotional support to homeschooled and special needs children.
The funds will also be used for marketing and to invest in additional equipment, allowing the introduction of a Day Training Program for clients with limited time for training their dogs. The overarching goal is to create a larger, supportive community while emphasizing ethical training practices that favor positive reinforcement.
Pawsitive Principles cites a significant rise in shelter populations as a reason for funding approval. Their training programs can help increase the adoptability of shelter dogs and minimize their time in shelters, ultimately reducing abandonment and euthanasia rates. Furthermore, their commitment to training and educating dog owners helps improve relationships and mitigate issues of abuse and neglect.
The academy sees itself as distinct from competitors, as three out of four rival organizations use aversive training methods, while Pawsitive Principles focuses on positive and humane techniques. The trainers at Pawsitive Principles possess advanced certifications and educational backgrounds, positioning them to deliver superior quality training in a professional and safe environment. They also provide affordable group classes, enhancing accessibility for clients.

Funding Usage
We have already grown out of the small space that we are currently using. With our growing clientele, we will use the funding to move into a larger space to continue growing our business to continue serving our community in various ways such as: 1. Working with individuals that are struggling with their dogs or dog behavioral issues to mitigate rehoming and preserving canine/human relationships. 2. We would like to expand our service dog training program to provide affordable service dogs to our community or disabled individuals through an owner-trained or by our certified service dog trainers to help mitigate the cost and time it takes to receive a service dog. 3. Training shelter dogs with behavioral issues to be better placed with forever homes and a loving and caring environment. 4. Providing therapy level trained dogs to work with home-schooled or special needs children to provide emotional support at a local playroom designed for special needs children. The funding will be used to build a larger advertising and marketing base and investing in more equipment to expand our services to provide clients the opportunity to have a trainer trained dog through a Day Training Program. This will cater to the clients that do not have the time to train their own dogs. The funding will also be used to house and train service dogs for individuals whose disability hinders them from training their own service dog or going through our owner trained program.

Business Plan
With the funding provided, we will be able to obtain a larger facility that will allow us to expand our services, including service/therapy dog work, shelter dog work, and behavioral work. This will be done through marketing, advertising, community sponsored and promotional events. 1. Shelter population has increased substantially of recent with most at capacity with abandoned or unwanted dogs, due to lack of training and behavioral issues. Through our training programs, we can help mitigate this issue by providing training and volunteering our time to help the shelter workers and volunteers to learn how to train these dogs. Doing this will make the dogs more adoptable, decrease their time at the shelter, and find loving and caring homes with reduced probability of them being returned to the shelter and avoiding abandonment, abuse, and shelter overcrowding euthanasia. 2. We would like to provide affordable service dogs to individuals with disabilities who would benefit from the aid of a professionally trained service dog to mitigate their disability. 3. Focusing on obedience training and behavioral protocols, to mitigate abuse, abandonment, broken relationships and bonds between the dogs and humans. This will happen through educating the human end of the leash and teaching the dogs skills. 4. We believe in ethical, humane, and scientifically proven positive reinforcement training methods and educating the owners to better understand their dogs, as well as strengthen the relationship between canines and humans.

Self Identified Competition
Our top 4 competitors are: 1. Canine Life Skills - Hillsboro, MO - Aversive 2. Pawjama Party Kennels - Pevely, MO - Aversive 3. Petsmart - Crystal City, MO - Positive Reinforcement 4. Matty B's Dog Training - Arnold, MO - Aversive 3 out of 4 of our competitors use aversive tools (i.e. prong collars, electric shock collars, and choke chains) and techniques (helicoptering, alpha rolling, leash pops, etc.) to train their client dogs. The 4th competitor (Pet Smart) does use positive reinforcement training; however their trainers do not have the educational and training background and certifications that we have to be able to offer the quality training that we do. We have substantially more formal training and education than our competitors. We are able to provide our clients with quality training and educational services to help them better understand their canine companions. Our trainers are nationally certified through Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (Number 2196376), AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluators, Fear Free Certification, Pet Tech CPR, First Aid, and Care Certification, Atlas Assistance Dogs Certified Service Dog Trainer. Most of our competitors work out of their home which makes it difficult to work with clients. We offer a large training studio and a professional environment which allows for better quality learning, training, and safety for both the humans and canines. We also have the ability to offer group classes in our studio which makes dog training more affordable for those that cannot afford private dog training.
