Chattooga Brewing Company | Application Preview
Chattooga Brewing Company is applying for government grants to support the initial purchase of property and transition to a long-term SBA loan, which will finance construction, equipment acquisition, and opening costs.
The business plan sets an ambitious production target of 250 barrels in the first year, using a 10-barrel brewing system that promotes efficiency and future scalability. Initially, sales will focus on the taproom and local keg distribution, with plans to expand into canning for local supermarkets in years two through five.
The application emphasizes the applicant's strong work ethic and leadership skills developed over 25 years in the Army. The aim is to foster economic development in a small town, making this brewery the first and only one within a 50-mile radius. It will create jobs and attract tourists, contributing positively to the local economy and supporting growth in Georgia's brewing industry.
At present, there are no craft brewery competitors nearby, with only major brand breweries found in local establishments. Chattooga Brewing Company's competitive advantage lies in its hyper-local approach, being situated near a community park and a rail station. This location is poised to attract visitors to the Appalachian foothills, lakes, and a renowned mountain biking area. The brewery plans to source local ingredients and hire community members, establishing itself as a vital gathering place for the town.

Local sales in the tap room with keg sales in the first year to local businesses, expanding to canning in years 2-5 to enter local supermarkets. Strong work and leadership ethic developed with over 25 years of service in the Army. Transitioning to focus on small town economic development where I grew up, this local brewery will be the first in the town and the only one within 50 miles. Self Identified Competition
No craft brewery competitors in the immediate area, competition remains big name brand breweries found in local restaurants and stores. I aim to be hyper-local. Our brewery will be set next to a community park and rail station, drawing tourists to the foothills of the Appalachian trail, lakes, and an internationally famous mountain bike scene. Our brewery will be locally grown, sourcing local ingredients, and hiring local community members, providing a "third place" for the town.
