El malecón Mexican Grill LLC | Application Preview
El Malecón Mexican Grill LLC is seeking government grants to restore its building and improve its facilities. The funds will specifically be used to repair the deteriorating stucco and brick, restore the parking lot, and replace outdated doors.
The business aims to transition from a food truck operation to a family-friendly restaurant, providing a welcoming environment with enjoyable food. The owner is committed to enhancing the community and believes these upgrades are crucial for successfully opening a restaurant in the North Hill neighborhood.
Approval of this funding will significantly support their budget, which is around $700,000 as assessed by their architect. Currently, the food truck model presents challenges, especially during cold winters, forcing them to close for weeks at a time due to weather conditions.
El Malecón differentiates itself through its dedication to the community's diversity, and the owner is eager to establish a full-service restaurant that reflects and celebrates this.

Self Identified Competition
We have disadvantages working out of a food truck. Without our building complete we are always struggling with the cold winters and close a couple of weeks when the weather is poor outside. We love our community and the diversity of it. We have started off with a food truck and are trying to open our restaurant that has a diverse community.
