Teebs Cleaning | Application Preview

Teebs Cleaning is seeking a $5,000 government grant to enhance their marketing efforts, aiming to attract more customers and provide stable work for existing employees. The applicant believes that cleaning should be recognized as a valuable profession, and that workers deserve fair wages and benefits.

The business plan includes hiring up to 10 full-time employees who would have access to education, health benefits, and a supportive work environment. Teebs Cleaning aims to ensure that their employees, many of whom are women, can earn enough to support their families without needing to hold multiple jobs.

The applicant shares a personal story of growing up in South Africa and the struggles faced by their family, including the experience of their mother and grandmother as housemaids. They are passionate about transforming the cleaning industry to better support workers while benefiting families who need cleaning services.

Teebs Cleaning competes with companies like Molly Maids and Hummingbird Cleaning Services, but asserts a competitive edge by committing to fair pay for employees—$25 per hour—compared to others that pay as low as $10 per hour. The applicant believes that by investing in Teebs Cleaning, the government will support a movement towards a more equitable cleaning industry.

The $5000 will help Teebs Cleaning with marketing. The more money we spend on marketing we can increase our customers and guarantee consistent work for my current employees. The cleaning business can be changed with Teebs Cleaning as I think that people should get paid well and get benefits to clean people's houses because it is a job that many families who have money can benefit from. I have always worked to start my businesses but now that I think we can grow the business I need help. The $5000 will beneficial to changing our business to help others like me who have been affected by Covid-19.

  • Business Plan

I want to have 10 full-time employees. I would love our employees to have access to education if they need it, health benefits, and a great healthy work environment with fair pay. With the amount of work that cleaners do, they are getting paid less for it. This is a business that cleaners mostly women can work hard and still be able to afford to take care of their families and not have to work two jobs. I grew up in South Africa, received a Peace Corps Volunteer Scholarship to study here in the USA in 2010. Later received my MBA in Business and have been pursuing business ever since. My mother and my grandmother used to work as housemaids and still were not able to feed us. I have learned a lot from them and if done well cleaning companies can actually benefit working moms while improving the lives of the cleaners. When investing in Teebs Cleaning, you are helping us change the cleaning business and it will be a win-win situation for all. We do not have to have most of the pie when the people that are working the most only bring a slice to their families.

  • Self Identified Competition

Molly maids, 5280 cleaning company, Hummingbird Cleaning Services Workers should get paid well. When I was asked to subcontract by some of my competitors as a new cleaning company, I was informed that my pay will be $25/hr. That's how much I pay my employees, they receive $160 in profit. The reason is that they pay people $10/hr. that is wrong and it has to change.
