Touch A Dream dance studio 850618193 | Government Grant Application

Touch A Dream dance studio | Application Preview

Touch A Dream dance studio is applying for government grants to enhance their operations and support their dancers. If awarded, the funds would be used for multiple purposes, including participating in regional dance competitions, which they believe significantly boost the dancers' cognitive and physical skills. The grant would also allow them to invest in better tumbling equipment, acquire a vehicle to transport students without transportation, and address small repairs needed in the studio. Additionally, the funds would help improve marketing efforts to attract more students and promote growth.

The owner has a personal story, having been a dancer in Toledo, Ohio, and even performing professionally for the Detroit Pistons. Motivated by her own experiences as a minority in the dance community, she aims to create an inclusive environment where dancers of all backgrounds can feel celebrated. The studio offers various dance styles and emphasizes participation in competitions and local events.

Touch A Dream competes with local studios such as Daryl Jervis, Company C Dance Club, and Toledo Ballet. Its unique position as a Black-owned, woman-owned business with a mother/daughter partnership and a predominantly Black student body sets it apart in the region, having successfully operated for 15 years.

Receiving the funds would also help us to be able to invest in small repairs for the studio. Part of the funds would go towards advertising so that we can expand the growth of the studio.

  • Business Plan

Through better and more consistent advertisement and possible expansion of studio space. Thank you for taking the time to hear my story. Before I opened a dance studio at the age of 22, I myself was a dancer at a local studio in Toledo, Ohio. I was also able to dance professionally for the Detroit Pistons NBA basketball team in 2006-2007. As a dancer growing up I struggled to feel that their was a place for me to blossom and feel accepted due to me being a minority. I didnt look like everyone else and as a little girl this was tough to cope with. I knew that I wanted to be able to create a space for young males and females with various racial backgrounds to be celebrated and not tolerated. I am blessed to be able to own and operate a dance studio which trains males and females in all styles of dance. We focus on ballet, tap, hip-hop, contemporary, jazz & tumbling. We also compete competitively as well as performing at local shows or events within our community.
