Uncle Bacon's BBQ | Application Preview
Uncle Bacon's BBQ is applying for government grants to purchase a food truck, which will enhance their capacity to participate in more events and increase sales. Currently functioning as a 'pop-up mobile,' the business operates a smoker and tent setup. The plan is to expand into catering, weddings, and corporate events while seeking licensing for retail sales. The owner aims to connect with local sports teams in Northeast Ohio, with aspirations of establishing a fleet of food trucks in the region and beyond.
The owner, driven by a passion for cooking, has dreamed of starting this business for a decade. Motivated by past corporate experiences, they seek to transition from their current job to manage Uncle Bacon's BBQ full-time.
In terms of competition, the business faces other BBQ vendors like Poagies BBQ and Three Lil Piggies BBQ. However, Uncle Bacon's BBQ sets itself apart with unique offerings, such as bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers and BBQ parfaits, using local ingredients from trusted sources. Their commitment to local sourcing is not only a marketing tactic but a core part of their mission, supporting community businesses while delivering distinct and high-quality BBQ products.

Funding Usage
Funds would be put towards the purchase of a food truck. Right now we're considered a "pop-up mobile". We've got a large smoker that we tow around and setup/sell from underneath a tent. Purchasing a food truck would give us the ability to be accepted to a wider variety of events and would generate a lot more sales for us.

Business Plan
We would like to do a lot more catering/weddings/corporate events in the future. We're in the process of getting licensed/registered to be able to sell our unique BBQ products at retail locations. We have 3 professional sports teams in NE Ohio as well as a minor league baseball team, all of which host events with food trucks/vendors, and we plan on getting in contact with them in the coming years. My vision is to have a fleet of Uncle Bacon's BBQ food trucks in NE Ohio, and perhaps neighboring states as well. Uncle Bacon's BBQ has been a dream of mine for the last 10 years. With a young family I always talked myself out of it, but after going through a couple of acquisitions (one of which didn't go so well) with my corporate IT job, I decided that I needed to control my own destiny and go into business myself. I'm very driven, I have a passion for cooking and I want nothing more than to be able to purchase a food truck so that I can quit my "day" job and do this full time.
