EmMarie Photography LLC is seeking government grants to alleviate the startup debt associated with their photography business. The funds will solely support business operations and help achieve the owner's aspirations of becoming a successful photographer in Indiana.
The business plan outlines a five-year vision to establish a physical photography studio, with projected annual earnings of $50,000-$60,000. The owner is committed to personal growth and aims to offer clients various tangible products such as prints and albums while saving a portion of weekly income to fund this goal. Additionally, the business intends to positively impact the community by delivering high-quality photography.
The request for funding emphasizes the owner's dedication and perseverance, particularly as a single mother facing numerous challenges over the past three years. The owner has worked tirelessly to save for startup costs, often having to defer dreams due to unexpected expenses. There is a desire to give back to the community that has supported her journey.
In terms of competition, EmMarie Photography faces three established local photographers who have been in the industry for 2-7 years and possess loyal followings. Despite this, the owner believes her work ethic and drive to improve give her a competitive edge. She reflects on remarkable growth in 2020 when her business unexpectedly flourished, illustrating her ability to adapt and push boundaries. Rather than rely on prior financial support like competitors, her success has been built from the ground up, revealing her determination to work harder and go the extra mile.

Business Plan
In the next 5 years, I anticipate opening up my own brick and mortar photography studio. My goal is to make $50,000-$60,000/year in income within these 5 years. I am obsessed with growth and constantly affirm my wants and needs as a photographer. I want to be able to provide clients with tangible goods that they can purchase from me (prints, cards, blankets, albums, cups, etc). With these goals, I plan to save a percentage of my weekly income to put towards my 5 year goal. I also have been (and continue to plan to be) a positive influence to my community by providing timeless and professional photography to my clients. I could list so many things as to why investors should be interested in my business, but I am going to expand on just one idea. I have worked SO incredibly hard to get where I am today. It has taken me almost 3 years to save up for some of the start up costs to photography. As soon as something positive would happen for my future business, another personal expense would pop up and I had to put my dream on the back burner. I am currently a single mother, so these challenges have furthered my goal at being successful in what I do. I always strive to be better than I was last week. I am eager for constructive criticism, advice and support from my community. I want to give back to my community for believing in me when I started this whole business.

Self Identified Competition
My top 3 competitors are Nikki Rae Photography, Blakey Dawn Photography and Haley Daugherty Photography. These top 3 competitors of mine have been in the business from anywhere of 2-7 years and have a pretty good following for their photography business. They all have opened or share brick and mortar photography studios and all have a slight advantage in booking more clients than me. I look up to all three competitors with respect and love all of their work. I put in work. Raw work. I strive to be better than I was last week. My ambition to be the best photographer in the state is what drives me to continue my work. I think about all of the growth I have overcome in the last year and it is astounding. I honestly never expected to make over $10,000 in income for 2020. I didn't even have a goal. My business just exploded in August of 2020 and it wasn't anticipated at first. It scared me and I didn't know if I would be able to keep up with the demands of clientele. The growth in 2020 made me stronger not only as a business, but as an individual, a mother and a provider. I can say that, with a doubt, I can step out of my comfort zone as opposed to these other competitors. I CAN go the extra mile. I CAN work harder than the others because it's only what I've been doing for the last 3 years. My business started from absolutely nothing, unlike my competitors who've had the luxury of financial support.
