Coin Toss Courts | Application Preview
Coin Toss Courts is applying for government grants to secure a location and cover a full year of expenses. The business aims to become the leading women-owned volleyball facility in Oregon and to promote the sport from youth to adults in the Southeast Portland-Metro area. Their plan includes partnering with local organizations to create a safe environment for learning and playing volleyball, establishing connections with sports groups, and ultimately opening more locations to increase accessibility.
The need for funding is underscored by the absence of volleyball complexes on the East side of the river, despite a growing demand from over 6,138 junior members and a rising interest in adult and boys volleyball. With population growth in Clackamas County, the demand for such facilities is expected to increase.
In terms of competition, Coin Toss Courts will differentiate itself as a six-court volleyball complex accessible for rentals, unlike competitors like Beaverton Courts and Olympus Volleyball Complex, which primarily serve their club programs and have limited available times. This unique positioning will cater to teams and leagues in Milwaukie, Clackamas, Gladstone, Gresham, and East Portland, addressing a significant gap in the regional sports infrastructure.

Business Plan
Our long-term goals include: Become the leading women-owned volleyball facility in Oregon Promote and grow volleyball in the SE Portland-Metro area, from youth to adults of all skill levels Partner with existing organizations/clubs to provide access and opportunities to learn and play in a safe and positive environment Establish solid partnerships with local sports organizations Offer a large, multi-use space for a variety of community needs Open more locations across the Portland-Metro area providing more accessibility and opportunity for all At the moment, there are no volleyball complexes on the East side of the river. There is a strong and necessary need for this complex. Not only are there club teams (6,138 Jr. members), there is also adult volleyball and the upcoming popular boys volleyball. The need for this complex is growing every year, with the uprising of Clackamas counties population.

Self Identified Competition
The Courts in Beaverton, Olympus Volleyball Complex, THRPD Coin Toss Courts will be a 6 court volleyball complex which is open to any teams or leagues that need to rent space. The above two competitors are open for rent, however, they are both homes to volleyball club programs and therefore their locations are hard to rent due to the number of days/teams they have. We will be the only volleyball specific complex on the East side and will help teams/leagues in the cities of Milwaukie, Clackamas, Gladstone, Gresham and East Portland.
