Furthering Fostered Families | Application Preview
Furthering Fostered Families is applying for government grants to support the purchase and rehabilitation of a four-unit house aimed at creating a transitional living space for homeless individuals. The funds will also cover the acquisition of essential appliances and household items.
The organization seeks to redirect the lives of homeless individuals by enhancing their coping mechanisms and providing job training, ultimately promoting productivity and improvement in their quality of life. The program is designed to help participants make positive choices, with a goal of fostering long-term, productive changes within the community.
Approval for funding is justified by the acknowledgement that many homeless individuals face traumatic circumstances that contribute to their situation, leaving them with few options for recovery. This transitional program would offer critical services such as emotional healing, rehabilitation from substance abuse, support for mental health issues, and resources for tackling poverty and unemployment. Specific offerings would include parenting and cooking classes, educational assistance, credit repair, mentorship, budgeting guidance, on-site daycare, and employment preparation.
While there are competitors in the region, such as Progress Transitional House and Love N Kindness, Furthering Fostered Families differentiates itself through its comprehensive approach and strong emphasis on mission and values. The program not only addresses immediate needs but also supports participants in becoming self-sufficient. After completion, individuals will receive community resources and continued mentorship for up to 24 months, reinforcing their journey towards a better lifestyle and potentially contributing as mentors for future participants.
