Glacier County Regional Port Authority 83-0482751 | Government Grant Application

Glacier County Regional Port Authority | Application Preview

The Glacier County Regional Port Authority is applying for government grants to fund training classes in key areas such as website development, grant writing, and accounting. Established 11 years ago, the organization has recently appointed an executive director focused on enhancing outreach throughout the county. With proper training, the aim is to become self-sufficient in managing these functions, ultimately allowing more funds to directly benefit the community.

Located in Montana, the Port Authority serves both reservation and border towns, addressing historical tensions and fostering collaboration between Tribal and Non-Tribal communities. The executive director's local background reinforces a commitment to building strong relationships, which are crucial in a vast state like Montana but require time and resources.

As a non-profit, the Port Authority does not compete for business in the traditional sense, though it may interact with local banks when proposing loans for clients. Its unique position as the sole entity in Glacier County offering free business planning, counseling, and assistance with financial applications emphasizes its distinction and dedication to community support without seeking profit.

  • Business Plan

Although Glacier County Regional Port Authority was established 11 years ago, there has only been an executive director for one year. The goals are for more outreach within our county. With the appropriate training of our executive director, we are looking toward a time when we do not have to pay for website management, accounting, technical assistance and grant writing, which would leave more funding with which to assist our county. Glacier County covers a large percentage of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Montana. The Glacier County Regional Port Authority serves communities both on and off the reservation. With reservation towns and border towns, there are often hard feelings, which the Port Authority is working tremendously hard to mend. Our executive director grew up in a similar part of Montana, and is dedicated to working within the entire county, building bridges between Tribal and Non-Tribal. Such relationships take time, travel, and funding in a state as large as Montana. However, said relationships, when positive, are invaluable.

  • Self Identified Competition

We are a non-profit, therefore are not competing for business. The only possible way we might be competing is with local banks when putting together loan proposals for our clients. The Glacier County Regional Port Authority is the only entity in Glacier County that does what we do. We are different in that we provide free assistance with business planning, small business counseling, as well as grant and loan applications with no profit being realized.
