The Pueo Library | Application Preview
The Pueo Library is applying for government grants to support their operations, specifically to cover rent and other expenses. Their business model focuses on community assistance, offering free textbooks to college students to alleviate educational costs.
The need for funding is highlighted by the challenges faced during the Covid pandemic, which have intensified their struggle as a community-oriented nonprofit. Although they have been utilizing Amazon for some sales, their visibility and accessibility have been adversely affected by the platform's policies.
In terms of competition, their primary rivals include the University bookstore and Amazon. While the university bookstore provides a physical location for students to purchase books, The Pueo Library distinguishes itself by offering these books for free, directly benefiting students who may not afford them otherwise.
The library's competitive advantage lies in its mission to support students in their educational pursuits without charge, significantly impacting those who might otherwise struggle to pass their classes. By supplying free access to textbooks, they not only help individual students but also contribute to higher graduation rates and educational success within the community.

Business Plan
We plan to grow our business by continuing to help the community. Our textbooks are given for free to college students to ease their cost of school. Our main purpose has always been to help the community. With Covid that has become so much harder to achieve as our business is community-based. We are primarily a non-profit but keep ourselves going via Amazon which we can't even do now. This money would help us continue to give to the community and help those who can't help themselves thrive.

Self Identified Competition
Our main competitors are the University bookstore and Amazon. I mentioned we sell there but Amazon takes matters into their own hands with small businesses and makes us more or less visible depending on how they're feeling that day. Our other main competitor is the UH bookstore. They provide a convenient location for students to get their books, while we give those same books to students for free. Our business is completely different from those around us as we give our products directly to our customers at no cost. In order to maintain our business, we sell overflow on Amazon. Because we choose to give our books away for free students that would otherwise not be able to pass their classes can. We have a direct impact on our customers in a completely tangible way that other businesses do not. We help those that would not be able to make it through school achieve their goal of graduating and better students along the way because they get access to books they would not otherwise and pass a class they might otherwise not have.
