Puna Ice 86-2728206 | Government Grant Application

Puna Ice | Application Preview

Puna Ice is seeking government grants to support their business with specific funding requests outlined as follows:

1. Purchase of a 2016 Nissan shave ice truck for $71,500.00. 2. Start-up supplies for two months totaling $10,499.52. 3. Menu board setup and related materials costing $239.80. 4. A contingency for miscellaneous or unforeseen expenses of $17,760.68.

The business plan includes expanding the menu within a year to boost profits and the acquisition of an additional shave ice truck within three years. Over a span of 5 to 7 years, there are plans to establish a second truck in Pahoa, Hawaii.

Puna Ice argues that supporting their venture would benefit the community while highlighting the background of the owner, an Air Force veteran with 20 years of service who is 100% disabled. They aim to inspire others, particularly women, by demonstrating that success is achievable despite challenges.

For competitive positioning, Puna Ice acknowledges local competitors like Bob's Shave Ice, Kona Ice, and Lancaster Shave Ice. The mobile nature of their business is seen as a key advantage, allowing them to serve customers directly, particularly in areas underserved by the competition. Additionally, Puna Ice plans to offer unique menu items, incorporating local favorites, setting them apart from competitors focused solely on shave ice.
